The seat can be installed with the SuperLATCH in booster mode because the SuperLATCH does not hold the child in place; instead, the vehicle seat belt does.
I didn't weigh it exactly, but I'd estimate it to be around 30 pounds. The car seat isn't going to win any weight-loss competitions.

In 2018, we purchased a Radian RXT for our second child and were very pleased with it. It is without a doubt the safest car seat I have ever strapped my child into, and we have several Graco car seats that we have installed in various models and types of vehicles. I fought with Graco for more than 30 minutes in my mother's Ford Explorer, and I wanted to set the car on fire for her forcing me to move it over in 105-degree Texas weather. It's heavy, but I install mine and won't move it for anything in heaven or hell unless I'm flying, so it's not like I carry it around with me every day. br>br>Unfortunately, Diono is charging the same price for a crappy, thin car seat cover that they used to charge for a premium fabric car seat cover. You can tell they downgraded the 3RXT significantly since releasing the RXT just by feeling the differences between the two year models. It's much thinner and has less padding, so I'm not sure how it won't pill in the wash. It will be destroyed by my child. br>br>I've included photos of old and new for comparison, but the majority of the difference is in the "feel. " br>br>I'm disappointed because you'd expect a high-quality fabric in a $300 "upper trim" series car seat that's supposed to last ten years. It's the same cheap, slick microfiber that I've got on a few of my wal-mart purchases. $30 booster seats or universal car covers can be found at the dollar store. It'll probably turn green/gray in the sun, just like those. My Radian RXT is the same color it was when I bought it, and it looks even better now that it's two years old and has been washed a million times. br>br>At first, I thought they sent me the wrong car seat cover because it says "Radian R" and my RXT is embroidered rather than stamped on the fabric. It's also labeled "Radian RXT" on the box, so I'm not sure why I'm confused. Then I went to their website and Amazon to look at the pictures. Nope. Throughout the Radian series, they are all made of the same dreadful fabric. br>br>Shame on you, Diono; car seats are expensive enough when you have to replace them on a regular basis as you have children, or when you have multiple children so you don't have to deal with the logistics of switching cars with your spouse or parents just to get your children from point A to point B. Also, by purchasing something less "premium," parents could easily save $100 or $200. br>br>Removing a star due to the low price, as seeing it there makes me wonder if they are as "premium and innovative" as Diono claims. Companies that excel at one thing should strive to excel at everything they do, especially if they want repeat business. I returned because I had such a positive experience with the RTX. I'm not sure I need another one, but unless they return to better covers, I'll be back for a "4RTX" or whatever comes next. br>br>For reference, these fit perfectly in Toyota Corolla, Sienna, Highlander, and even the tiny Prius, but the rear face in a Prius raises the front seat too high for anyone taller than 5'6 (basically everyone in our family). It will fit in a Ford Explorer, but if it's leather, you'll be enraged because they didn't want anyone getting near their latches to use them, and they're set too close together, so actually cranking down and getting the seat tight enough is a pain, but it's easier than installing a Graco carrier or convertible car seat. Don't be fooled by a Ford Explorer's entertainment package; this is not a car for a young family with car seats.
I spent a lot of time doing research to find the safest car seat for my son. I chose this car seat after reading reviews and searching for weeks. Even though it didn't fit well in my sedan when I first got it, I was very excited and optimistic. I purchased a new car with the intention of allowing my father to relax. My car has captain seats that can be adjusted quite far back, but it makes no difference. When my son falls asleep, his head flops completely forward because he sits so straight up and down. I'm afraid to drive anywhere because I'm afraid he'll suffocate while I'm driving. I spent $320 on this carseat because it was supposed to be safe, but now I'll have to buy another because it is not safe, at least for rear-facing children.
It's a complete nightmare to get up. I had high hopes for the "Cadillac" of automobile seats. 'Intuitive' does not appear to be one of Diono's strong suits. Advantages: br>br>

- Setup. Is. It's ridiculous. Although the cover conceals all of the straps and connection devices in the back, I've purchased $50 car seats that were far more intuitive, and Diono should study BOB Strollers. The manual (which is also hidden inside the seat, not in the box) will become second nature to you.
- It's a terrible method of adjusting. You can't adjust the strap height without taking it off and putting it back on. the straps are being threaded
- On this thing, there are no obvious or highlighted controls.
- The serial number and date of manufacture are obscenely hidden under the seat cover on the back. After you install this device and realize you need to register it, have fun tearing your hair out looking for this elusive sticker.
- Straps on the harness are far too short. On the highest setting, they sliced my 3-year-old's neck.
- Clips that lock together aren't very good. in line with the seat's actual metal brackets When you tighten the Locking Clip strap, it's essentially at a right-angle position. It's very difficult to get it snug enough because of the angle with the brackets in the seat. br>br>Overall, it's a well-made product with a poor design. It's not intuitive or as functional as a $300-plus device should be. car seat with a range I'm hoping my child will be comfortable in it; if not, I'll return it and buy another Recaro.
These car seats are ideal for our needs. We're expecting our third child in June, but we'll need to do three trips across the country in our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. In the back of our car, we have a Graco infant carrier and two Diono forward-facing and rear-facing seats. They were made to go together. The only gripe I have is with the installation. We've only ever had Graco seats, which are much easier to install than these. But, overall, we're pleased with the seats and would recommend them.
