Many of the five-star reviews I've seen on here are from people who got this product for free. I'm always skeptical of those reviews, so I decided to write one myself as someone who paid for the product. I've had this sunshade for about three years and still use it during the summer. It does exactly what it says on the tin and allows my daughter to ride in her car seat in comfort during our hot Vegas summers. It's something I highly recommend!.
When strapping my children into the car seat after being in a hot car for a few hours, I've always been concerned about how hot the seats and metal buckles get. br>I noticed a significant difference in the "heat to touch" of the car seat when I use this versus when we don't. br>br>This is a must-have for the summer - Especially if you live in Arizona or plan to visit during the summer months.
It folds up into a tiny package that is easy to store.
Summers in Texas are hot and humid. The worst part is when your child gets in the car from somewhere and complains that their seat is too hot, forcing you to turn on the car and wait 20 minutes for it to cool down enough for your child to get in their car seat (I think I'll need freon). I used to keep a towel in the car to cover the car seat, but I would either forget to use it or end up using it for a spill or something else, and it would be missing from my car when I needed it. This car seat shade, on the other hand, is what I'm using. It folds up small enough to fit into the back seat pocket, where it will be in my face when I get my baby out. Because it is elastic, I simply wrap it around the top and tuck it under the seat to protect it. When we get back in the car, the seat is warm but not hot, which means I don't have to wait for the car to cool down before I can get the child in. This was exactly what I needed several years ago!.
I bought these to try out with the COOLTECH car seat ice packs and see how they compare. br>br>I've had these for about a month. It functions properly, but it does not keep the car seats cool (which is not its function). They don't get too hot to sit in because of it. One, however, has already developed a small rip from regular use. It's not very long-lasting. Overall, I prefer the COOLTECH covers for extremely hot days. br>br> However, I prefer to keep these covers in my car at all times in case I forget my ice packs or have a few quick errands to run.
In my car, I have two car seats, and I tried this cover on one of them several times. The temperatures of the car seats were never different. It was just as hot as the one with the cover. If anything, it was hotter than the seat that didn't have the cover on. I believe that the cover heated up the air beneath it, causing the seat belt buckles to heat up as well. I'm returning the item because it was simple to put on and remove.
It's lightweight, folds up into a small ball when not in use, and does a good job of blocking the sun from the car seat. The only gripe I have is that getting it on the car seat is extremely difficult. When I get a child out of the car, I'm usually left-handed. (One hand is holding the child. ).
I knew this product wouldn't work in North Carolina, but I'm from Maine, and I don't think it would work even there. Basically, it keeps the sun off the car seat, but you could achieve the same result with a blanket; additionally, we have a Graco car seat with elastic that is the equivalent of a fitted bedsheet that keeps coming loose.
