It can be used on a wood floor, but it isn't extremely cushioned. It's usually used on a rug - Although, if you needed more padding, you could easily place a blanket or towel beneath it.
It's difficult for me to keep it shut all the time. When attempting to turn the dial, I've found that pulling up on the 'arms' helps (occasionally).
We use it on a daily basis because she adores her "friends." On it, we do back and tummy exercises. She

I think I spent a little more time than I'd like to admit researching baby play gyms. In comparison to some of the round-about gyms, I needed something large enough to fit two babies, and this gym fit the bill. gyms in unusual shapes The fabric is easy to clean and does not attract pet hair (which is important to us). The colors and patterns (we chose the "vintage boys" design) are appealing to the eye. The toys are beneficial in terms of sensory stimulation. They rattle, crinkle, and have rings for pulling as well as rubber to help with teething. There is also a mirror in the room. It's pliable, and the reflection is distorted, but I suppose that's to be expected in a baby toy. br>I also liked how the arms could be adjusted to form a dome or a tepee. I was considering a much more expensive gym simply because it looked like a tepee, but I'm glad I found this one instead. When my older children play with the babies, they like to drape a light blanket over them. br>Most importantly, I like that this gym is reasonably priced; the quality is excellent, and I don't feel that anything is lacking because of the price. br>br>Overall,br>br>Pros: br>Pricebr>Easy-to-clean materialbr>Toys perfect for sensory purposesbr>Colors that aren't too "babyish"br>Toys can be removed and washedbr>More/different toys can be addedbr>Arms can adjust to two different stylesbr>br>Cons: br>Because the pillow is made of the same slick material as the mat, it can easily slip out from under a wriggly child. It would be better if it were attached to the mat. br>br>Arms can be tricky to adjust; it took some trial and error to figure out that you have to push down before twisting the lever to release the arms. br>br>Mirror reflection is distorted (this isn't a con for us, but it might be for others).
This is something we adore. Our house is set up to look like the baby's, and he has agreed to let us stay. I like that we can fold it up at the end of the day and reclaim a few square feet of adult space. br>br>Some of my favorite aspects of it are:
- If you're holding your baby, you can easily collapse and open it one-handed.
- It is extremely simple to separate for washingbr>- You can buy a variety of toys to hang (in 3-packs). To keep our baby from becoming bored, we rotate the toys.
- We can easily transport it because it folds up and is secured with velcro. br>br>We quickly discovered that putting the baby in it on a diagonal so his feet could kick the base of one of the arches allowed him to shake his own toys. When he became dissatisfied with the view, we'd simply helicopter him around each corner. So, by the time our baby was about 5 weeks old, he could entertain himself for a good 15 minutes at a time under this, and now, at 12 weeks, he'll stay for a half hour or longer playing with the toys. When he's laying in it, we hang the toys on the high setting, and when he's doing tummy time, we move them to the low setting (by attaching the mirror to the base of one of the arches).
Because I live in a small apartment, I have to fold all of my baby gear. This is the only tummy time mat I've come across that folds up easily. As others have stated, the trick is to press down on the arch while turning the knob, and it will easily collapse. The directions don't mention it, so I had to go back and read the reviews. br>And now for the bad news: It's a abomination! The colors aren't accurate in the photo, and the "vintage" look is firmly rooted in the 1970s. It's surprising there isn't any orange shag carpeting.
Mine is in the living room, but it travels all over the apartment with me! It's so much fun to watch my son play on it! I see him staring at the mat's various colors and patterns before reaching up and grabbing not only the accessories, but also the sides. It's hilarious to watch him look in the smaller mirror at himself. So far, he's only had one spit accident, which I was able to clean up easily because it didn't stain anything. The pillow is the only thing I don't like; he doesn't like it, it's hard, and I can't figure out how to keep it attached to the mat. Apart from that, my son is content, which is all that matters to me.
We use it on and off throughout the day, every day. It's very simple to assemble or disassemble for travel (we take it with us when we go to see someone for a while). I like how easy it is to clean. It can be washed and dried with the rest of your clothes, and it wipes clean nicely between washes. It's not the prettiest mat on the market, and I wish it came in a variety of patterns, but it's probably the most reasonably priced, and who cares what it looks like in the end? I'm pleased because the baby enjoys it.
Soon, he'll be able to crawl. It's been incredible to see how quickly he's progressed in these areas. From the moment he was first placed beneath the arch, he was completely captivated. It's easy to transport, spot cleans well, and the toys have so far proven to be durable. We are ecstatic about this play mat, and he is as well.
It's been 5 months and I'm still having a great time with it. I like how the hanging toys can be removed and replaced so the baby is never bored. The various patterns keep the baby occupied and focused. When not in use, it can easily be stowed away in a closet. Spit easily wipes away, and it's simple to disassemble and wash. Because babies enjoy looking at themselves, the included mirror is a huge plus. This mat stood out to me because of its perfect simplicity. There are no flashy lights and sounds, and there are no batteries. For the baby, it's all about having a good time!.
