The number of cheap TPMS on Amazon is so overwhelming that it is impossible to judge which one is worth the purchase without reviews, and even those are inconsistent. I have now completed three of these. There had to be one that worked on the market, and I was determined to find one that worked. The tire pressure gauges in my travel trailer are brand new. I was just trying to keep an eye on the pressure. After removing my tire covers and screwing them on, it took more time to setup the console to my preferences than it did to remove my tire covers. The entire process took 15 minutes from the point of unboxing to installation, and it worked exactly as I'd imagined it would. As for the durability or life of the product, I can't attest to those things, but my initial impressions have left me satisfied. When towing my camper, I feel a sense of comfort knowing I can check my tire pressure and possibly avoid major damage.

This applies to the spare tire as well. Two of these units were bought for two of my vehicles about a year and a half ago While they were labeled with a different brand name (than Tymate). Since they work well and save you from manually monitoring the tire pressure every week or two, they have proven to be very useful. There's an updated version of the Tymate unit I already own. They fixed a firmware bug (not a critical one) and swapped out the backlit monochrome LCD display with a regular one. During the summer, the color display of older units would be impacted by the There were a few segments that would cease to function once it cooled down. Nonetheless, it's still possible to read it. As long as you have a regular LCD display, that is not One of the best features of these units is that you can buy a fifth sensor and attach it to the spare tire. The head unit will show the pressure of the spare tire as well as the four Displays change from one to the other. There is no mention of that when you purchase the Tymate unit, but I had a spare sensor from my first two units and it was compatible with the Tymate unit. During acceleration, the sensors on the main wheels turn on immediately and start transmitting pressure at 12 MPH. However, the sensors on the spare wheels take a bit longer to respond since there is no rotation. A spare tire sensor will give a reading from time to time so you can find out what pressure is in the tire. It may get a new reading once or twice every 10 miles or so depending on how far you drive. Don't worry about a locknut just put 'em on and tighten them You won't have to worry about leaks or loosening. Locknuts are a pain to work with, and if you use them on a valve stem with a TPMS sensor built into the wheel, they will corrode and become Due to the dissimilar metal corrosion on those TPMS valve stems, the brass nut will corrode fast to those aluminum stems. You might strip the aluminum threads and destroy the TPMS sensor while you're trying to loosen the locknut. If you want to know how I know that, ask me. TPMS will only alert you when more than one tire has a pressure less than 25 PSI. My 2013 Prius comes with a TPMS that has been installed from the factory. You don't get to learn anything more than that, which is really not a lot. Having the ability to see exactly what is in every tire and even the spare tire, is much better. It is likely that the 2 tires in the sunlight will be a few degrees warmer than the 2 tires in the shade. There is only one downside (at least with my older 2 units) the solar panel doesn't provide enough power to keep the battery charged for an extended period of time.
