Dashes that have cracks are normally repaired or painted after they are removed. Based on their age, they can be very difficult to repair. If your car is more than ten years old, it is recommended to hire one of two people to replace the dash a new one or a salvage one. It will take alot of sanding to accomplish a good result with these welding kits, and the dash will have to be painted as well.

I used the kit to fix the broken plastics on an old 150cc scooter
4/5

It was useful, but you can only use it once or twice, so the kit itself is not very useful. Thank you very much. I am very happy with It is a problem when the top of the iron bends after it has been heated for A few times trying to straighten it will result in it breaking. Two are given to you as a bonus. In the event both tips break, you are done, unless you go somewhere else and seek out replacement I think the iron, plastic strips, wire brush, and mesh are all a really good addition. just that this kit is only special because it comes with Other than that, I could have purchased everything at Home Depot or Harbor Freight. There have been other reports of soldering iron tips bending when hot. I believe others have shared the same experience. It would be nice if the seller could convince the manufacturer to change the tip's metal to a harder material.

This app does what it's supposed to, but it's designed in an inexplicably bad way
3/5

As it turns out, it's really just a very Until the brass tip gets too hot and starts melting plastic, the device does exactly what it was designed for. Sadly, some questionable decisions were made in the selection of the materials used for The three screws holding the cowling to the overall device will come loose if the plastic handle is not physically set down from the heating mechanism. A lack of care will cause the heat to be absorbed into the plastic handle and the plastic cowl to become warped or cracked. Afterwards, the screws can be driven back in when the cowling cools down, as this can be worked around. There are none In with the Plastic-making sessions can be disrupted by this if it occurs less frequently The welding process. Because of the manufacturing choices that were made, I doubt I'll get much use out of this product. In reality, there is not a lot of need for me to repair agricultural water tanks, so it all works out in the end.

The temperature goes up pretty quickly
4/5

There is a fairly big iron in this kit, which makes it easy to hold on to. Heats up plastics well and is hefty in construction, so it is perfect for joining plastic pieces. As a whole, the kit has enough plastic for most purposes, and is adequate for the most common plastics. Using this method, the plastic is melted very quickly in order for it to be smoothed along with the added plastic to repair a variety of plastic items that have been damaged while in The main issue with using the kit is that the wedge-shaped device does not seem to be able to grip firmly In addition, the tips are made of materials with too low a melting point, so when they get hot, they begin to deform. In the presence of any pressure, the nearly molten shaft bends easily when pressure is applied - no amount of care is sufficient to prevent this. That is, unless the tip is not used. In order to avoid premature failures, when I purchase a new tip, I add some additional threads to the shaft and install a 1/4" shaft nut On it is a 28 nut. As soon as the tip is fully installed, I tightly tighten the nut against the end shield on the iron. So that the shaft is not heated too much and the pressure on the tip is transferred to the end of the iron, the shaft will not heat up too much. My other option was to drill a hole in the middle of the shaft with a 3/32" drill bit and insert a 3/32" welding rod end into it. A molten end is kept from bending under a lot of pressure by this mechanism. As the welding rod is forced into the hole in the shaft, it will hold in place without falling out again. It usually has a little 'blow' left on it. Used up 3/32" welding rods are used for these It is not yet clear if the extra nut on the new tips will work, but I have tried the hollow shaft with a welding rod inserted and it did work quite well with a 1/4" screw. This is done by tightly installation of the shaft up to the nut and holding them together with a nut.

While I was waiting for the new tips, I was able to complete a job that I was working on.

When the shaft breaks off, the remainder left in the iron renders it useless until it is best way to remove it is to drill a 3/32" hole near the center of the end as near as possible and then use a small extractor. These extractors are available in sets of four and fitted with drill bits that only need to be drilled 1/4" into the end to allow for the smallest hole in the hole. To make the grind easier, a Dremel tool can be used. Make a slot in the tip and set a small flat-headed screw inside it An eyeglass lens can be removed by turning the portion of the tip out with a blade screwdriver. It is very easy to work with copper material since it is fairly soft. Moreover, it will only take up a small amount of iron. My search for a better iron for the money did not lead me to one. To improve this, it is suggested that an on/off switch be added to the power input, as well as a thermal control to prevent Usually, I turn on the iron by plugging it in and then prepare for the work to be done since it takes a long time for it to heat up, but then it apparently overheats. The tip of the heater barrel is almost molten at the point where it exits the No matter how careful you are with the pressure you apply to the tip's shaft, the shaft eventually breaks due to gradual deformation.

I was able to save a lot of money because it gave me good results! After I discovered the bed rail caps on our leaking 2019 F250 had been badly deformed by improperly installing a fiberglass bed topper while replacing the leaking weather seals, I had to repair the tips of the black polypropylene rail caps
5/5

The bed toppers I was currently using didn't fit over my new caps, so I tried to buy two new caps for almost $300, but there wasn't one currently available. I reinstalled the bed toppers. While researching how to perform this type of repair, I thought that maybe there were ways to melt new plastic into the crushed areas, and I was able to locate a plastic welding kit while researching how to accomplish that. In spite of the fact that the repair work isn't perfect, when a silicone stamp and carefully placed heat gun were used to impart appropriate texture to the "welded" areas, you can hardly tell from a distance of more than 2 feet that the tips of the caps have The kit is likely to result in impressive results for anyone who has some experience with soldering, a modicum of technical and/or artistic ability, a bit of patience, and the willingness to spend a few minutes watching videos and practicing on common scrap plastic. In addition to the replacement tip and a rudimentary rod stand, it included a backing screen for filling larger voids, and enough plastic rod to complete more repairs than I will live long enough to accomplish. The tool may not last quite as long as thought, but for those who use it only occasionally to fix minor problems, it could last quite a long time.
