An electrical outlet with a 110 volt rating is not quite enough to power a 1/8" 7018 rod. I had to flip a breaker with that. However, a 3/32-inch 7018 rod plugged into a 110 volt outlet laid a nice bead while plugged in at 100 amps. Since I just received it, I cannot comment on whether it will last (will find out next week). It has not been plugged into a 220 yet however, judging from how well it worked on 110, I am confident it will do well on 220 as The size of this item fits under the back seat of my truck so I am very satisfied with my purchase. I would buy this product again without hesitation. Compared to what I was expecting, it far surpassed my expectations. You should consider getting this if you only weld once in a while and can't justify spending a great deal of money on a welder. The thing works great and it's only $90. You can't go wrong with it. It is not my usual style to do product reviews, but I felt I must on this one, for anyone who's on the fence about buying it.
I will get it as soon as I get connected it to a 15-amp outlet in my garage and burned some rods with it. It is the first time I have used a stick welder. At first, I had a little trouble sticking a couple of rods on, but after that I was able to use it like a pro. There is no doubt in my mind that I would Metals melt to form other metals at a rate of 10/10.
This is a surprisingly good welder for a low price!
If you're new to welding or if you know how to do it already. What a neat tool this is! There has not been a single problem with the connection except for 15 amp gfci outlets. Use a circuit that can handle the amps and not a gfi circuit or a gfci circuit.
It's amazing what this little welder can do! It arrived today and I wanted to make sure it worked by giving it a quick test. I recently picked up a 6013, which barely scratched my stock and had a beautiful arc. An arc flow that is quiet and seamless! Although it doesn't have the same duty cycle as my big old rod sticking Lincoln, I feel that this little guy can do a better job than the Lincoln for small projects.
The first thing I want to say is that I am not a welder by profession, but I needed a few things welded for my Jeep and decided to give it I was impressed by how well it did and for how little it cost. In this case, I used 7018 rod 3/32.
When you get something that is better than expected, it is rare. As far as this item is concerned, this is true. Connected only to a 15 Amp circuit, I was able to weld 1/2 plates together with ease. I have used it several times, and I have used it several times now. Assembly is a breeze, and it is lightweight and easy to transport. A must-have for DIY.
When used for the purpose for which it was designed, it is a great little welder. I like how it was easy to get started with 1/16 rod. It doesn't stick to the This would make a great welding machine for light duty.
There is a lot of power on 120 volts.
