weight and size of this unit make it appear smaller than it really is. I was surprised at how well it held a curve. Despite 40 years of welding experience, my first welding after all that time went well, and within a few hours of practice I was laying beads like I had back This is a fine little device. Happy with my purchase.
I've edited it In the end, I decided to return the machine as it welds fairly well, but the actual amps displayed on the machine are far from accurate, so the output is nowhere near 200 amps. There appear to be reviews on the 160a model that indicate it displays correctly, so maybe I'll give that one a try since it's now back on the list. A brief background Having worked as a union pipefitter and welder for 18 years, I am familiar with the trade. The only time I stick weld is for a gate test I will be taking soon, so I need to brush up a bit. After ordering the 160a Deko machine, I was unable to find the machine on Amazon (EDIT I found it elsewhere, but no longer), so I cancelled my order and today I have not found that machine. The book is back on Amazon now). Earlier this week I reordered it, and I just received the welder. As well as the stinger and ground for it, I got a heavier duty one since reviews state that the stock ones The rods are about 3/32 diameter. I used about 30 Everything seems to be working fine. The Miller at 93 amps that I've been using all day is a $3000 Miller. I've been welding 3/32 stick rod all day. When running the Deko, you must run it at (220v) 125a, and (110v) 180a if you want the same heat. There is no way that this thing is producing 200A. To put it simply, I use the machine only for running 3/32 stick rod to practice. It produces a good Unfortunately, not so good. The quality is not great, but it's good enough to practice. As far as I can tell, the 160a Deko machine is better than this one. It seems to display the amps correctly according to the reviews. Basically, it's like the YesWelder machines in that respect. Also, I wish I knew what the real amps are when I bought it, so I could make a chart to stock on it. All in all, it's a cheap welder.
In terms of price, this is a good stick welder. Light to medium-duty work in the automotive industry. There was little splatter and the bead was consistent. I would recommend this.
Very well done! I was impressed with the speed of delivery, great price, and the quality of the product. I was surprised and impressed on how well this little welder works even on 110. My husband is a welder and he's amazed how well this little unit works.
The lightness and portability of this device make it popular with my son. He was tricked by me by asking him questions about the mug before I placed the order. The package was a surprise to him and it was well received.
The following 100 1/8-inch squares have been burned As of now, the machine has run on 110v and has produced 6011 rods. The so far has been the best welding in the industry. I would say that the machine will be well worth the money if I can build a 24 by 32 foot shop made of all metal. It would be nice if the leads were a little heavier. There is no way you would believe the machine's light weight.
The picture I got for my son is great, and he enjoys watching.
