Although the large tip like these are very easy to use, the tip material softens when the temperature reaches a high temperature. If you use too much pressure when welding, you will bend them severely, regardless of how careful you are. You can bend them back a couple of times before they snap The reason that I have been able to reduce that tendency is because I installed a 1/4-inch In order to install the tip of the iron, you must tighten the 28 nut on the stem. As the nut spreads out the torsion force over a longer distance and against the base of the iron, an overwhelming amount of the problem can be minimized. Apparently, it also reduces the temperature a little bit as well, since the larger flat surface is much easier to weld with, and I use it to prevent the weld from angling too much. As a result of these tips, I will continue to use them.
The program does the job it's supposed to. I only had a disadvantage with the tip it kept on coming.
Felt like I needed to chase the threads for it to fit my Harbor Freight Plastic welder, but now it works In comparison to the first Harbor Freight tips, these are better made.
I would like to have this tool.
There are other options. We used them both the first day and both broke.
Many thanks for your kind words.
This is a nice heavy brass piece.
