This would not be applicable as a sling, however it could be used as a lining
5/5

It is good for temperature control, but it is not strong enough for slings.

This backpack stove windscreen fits over the top of the stove
5/5

While there are many fancy metal windscreens you can hang over your backpacking stove, most are made of panels that are heavy, rigid and have parts that break off. The one-piece fiberglass one is one of the best. The sharp edges on titanium screens make them difficult to store even though the screens are very light. I also used this blanket, cut in half to 9" x 24" and held in place with two paper clips, and it worked just as well, saving me about the same amount of weight but allowing for greater As a pillow, it could double as a bed cloth when rolled up.

To sweat a copper fitting to a bathtub spout, I used this with a mapp torch
5/5

For the installation, I had to braze the fitting up against the side of a cultured marble bath. It protected the wall from heat when I placed this mat against it and heated the fitting frequently, directing the flame on top of the mat. This is a highly recommended book.

This is a very good product
5/5

was not prepared for how hot they get at the range during use and how long it takes for them to cool down before it's time to pack up As you can see, it almost instantly melted my Mechanix glove when I used it the first time. The suppressor became hot, but I was able to remove it and handle it without difficulty. As well as cutting the jacket, I put a piece of cloth around the muzzle adapter on the rifle before putting it back in the bag.

The nylon bag you wrap around a hot rifle barrel will prevent it from getting burnt when you are taking it out of the range

When in contact with 750 degree casting, it emits an enormous amount of smoke! As soon as it came out of the preheat oven, I wrapped several of these blankets around the aluminum casting so it could be welded straight away
3/5

Our smoke alarm went off when the blankets started giving off so much smoke. We were notified before the fire department was called. In this case, the casting was only heated to 750 degrees. This was well below the advertised 1800 degrees. The cast is also likely to compress blankets where it touches the casting, resulting in an outline of the casting (baking). The compressed area conducts heat much more quickly than the blanket surrounding it, so be aware of that too. Other vendors offered a fiberglass blanket that I found to be far more reliable. The unused materials were used for other projects as well, so they are not.

I was not happy with the results on my motorcycle wiring from the low temp flux wire welder
5/5

I was not happy to find that my low temp flux wire welder burned right through this onto my motorcycle wiring.

A good enough result I think this is a great deal
5/5

When I was done testing it, I used it to cover a joist in my 30-foot tall house The year is I needed to solder a copper pipe and fitting in an old basement. It was just 1/2" (about a cm) away from the pipe and fitting. Decades of generations were protected by a blanket I had left a burn mark in this same area when I had worked there 20 years earlier. Now, no damage occurred on the same joist or any burn marks appeared on the wood behind the workpiece thanks to the blanket protecting it. Is this A thickness of 1/8 inch). As a result, this product is about two or three times the size When used with a MAP-certified blanket, the Oatey blanket did not smoke as much A Pro flame applied directly to it, and it also didn't alter too much in color. While both blankets are made of fire retardant material, they protected my house's framing from catching on fire and I was able to solder copper pipes and fittings less than an inch from flammable materials. According to the website description, it is rated to 1,800F however, I am sure that if it had been left open, the MAP-V could have been damaged. The Pro torch flame exposed to it long enough would either burn a hole in the blanket or be so hot as to cause whatever was behind the blanket to ignite. It would be good enough to protect against the welding flame used for soldering copper plumbing when exposed for a short time period.
