As well as in my Cabelas wall tent, I use it in my backpack to carry supplies. That would it work, but if you only want to protect from sparks and embers, you would have to double up on the insulation. I suppose it depends on how hot the stove is run and how close the stove sits to the wood if your trying to prevent the bottom of the stove from getting hot. I think my tent does keep moisture in it.

Is it possible to use this as a cover to protect furniture from the heat of a nearby wood stove (*3' away)?

The short answer is yes, but keep in mind that this is a fiberglass material, so sitting on it could get itchy. The one I have is being used as a quilt to keep warm at my BBQ during the cooler months.

What would be the best way to cover a radiator at night with this? Heat is too intense in the apartment at night due to a lack of controls. It is not necessary to block 100% of the heat. ?

According to my understanding, it should work well. At least two covers could be made with this amount of fabric.

This is a practical review from a welder
4/5

Having been a welder for thirty years, I was tired of reading reviews where people use these blankets to cover their smokers, as that is not what these blankets are intended for. There is fiberglass floating around in the containers, so you may get some in your hands. I have never gotten any in my hands, but some soft-touched I would recommend something that is not made from fiberglass if you do not like floating messy This product is ideal for light sparks, mig, tig, and stick welding. In the event that you intend to place them within inches of a welding process, they will probably In order to eliminate the burning issue, the maximum temperature must be 1000 degrees as stated in the description . When you use either plasma or a blue tip wrench and use this underneath the blanket, the blanket will become very hot. The burn hole is slightly higher where the molten slag straight off of the steel is. When covering items with these, covering items at an angle is best because the sparks hit, but they As a column of sparks flies off the grinder on to the blanket during use, you could burn the blanket if you are not careful. It is obvious that there should be a burn hole. As a result of the reasons listed above, I burned up my blankets on a job because they were needed in an emergency and they were Two heavy duty blankets I've had for years are still in good condition. The rubber roofs have been covered with them, cutting torches have been used over them, and they haven't damaged the rubber roof or everything underneath. Folded as small as you can, they also take up about the same space as cardboard and take up about a 2ft x 2ft square. It is not advisable to cover expensive seats or other items that are irreplaceable with welding blankets or heavy leather if you are worried about them being burned. Remove the item from the equation or buy GOOD welding blankets or heavy leather instead. But you can never be sure when it comes to welding. all over, bounce off of other objects and they will get into places you wouldn't expect. The only clothing I have that doesn't have burn holes is the leather jacket I wear once in a while. It has some severe burns but none of them have The slag droplets released by welding and how long they remain hot are an excellent example of what slag droplets are like. There are sometimes droppings of molten steel when welding more than 200 feet in the air. Adding wind conditions makes it possible to carry them. It has happened many times to me that these molten drops have fallen 200+ feet, then were blown by the wind and ignited. You may wonder How hot must it be for it to ignite a fire after falling for 8 feet, how hot is it going to be when it drops 2 feet onto the 1000 degree.

There is no way to make this fire blanket work
3/5

There is nothing to be done with this blanket. The reason I bought it is because I wanted to use my torch at the ranch cutting steel angle, and I didn't want to catch a fire on the place It was better than nothing at all, but if you are using a torch this is something you will only need to use once. Each piece of slag that landed on it burned a hole in it, shredding the Once you get in your skin, it becomes unbearable. Long story short, I paid 20 bucks for a welding blanket that isn't worth it. I at least didn't start a wildfire with it. But yeah, it's a bad product that shouldn't The price you pay is the price you get.

Cold weather is perfect for using a pellet smoker
5/5

This is the cover I use for my Camp Chef pellet smoker when it is freezing outside and that works perfectly for me. By folding the 4'x6' size in half, I have a double thickness that covers the door, top, and sides of the smoker, which helps keep the heat in during cold weather and cut down on pellet usage. The magnets I use to hold it in place are super strong. I didn't notice fibers shed by it, and yes, it discolored a lot where smoke got to it, but that was to be We have used it three times so far and so far it is holding up well. A great deal of time should be spared.

My welding is made easier with this barrier
4/5

The welding blanket works well at keeping sparks from spreading around my workshop when I am welding or grinding. As I had to be careful not to allow it to snag on course surfaces, the only issue I noticed was that it snags easily. I had a piece of rough lumber in my shop where it got caught on and started unraveling, but I was able to pull it up and smooth out the rough bits of wood. As for my blanket, the stitches looked like they had torn and been repaired. It is so fortunate that it included the brass grommets otherwise I am afraid it would have torn.

Muffler works well as a radiator exhaust
5/5

In my apartment bedroom, I have a radiator that bangs and clanks constantly. Due to the lack of an on/off switch, it remains hot at all times. Since I can't sleep with all the noise and heat from the radiator, I bought a welding blanket and wrapped it around it. It works like a charm! As a result, it muffles all sounds, and hinders heat from causing me to roast. While this may be a violation of every fire code known to man, it sure does the trick. Sometimes I take it off the wrapper to make sure no horrible burn marks are left. We haven't seen any burn marks yet or even brown marks in the middle of the spot. It is advised that you have someone help you unfold the blanket since fiberglass can get on carpets, clothes, and your skin.

This is yet another great job by Treager grills
5/5

The smell of smoked food is appealing to me. Winter is typically a difficult time to smoke because the wind and cold make it difficult. It might be possible for me to build a smoking room and sleep downstairs as well. Treager and I discussed the wind and cold problem while we were speaking about something else. Buying a welding blanket is the rep's recommendation That's what we need to do. A $200 prime rib roast was cooked today, which is of the same quality as a four-star restaurant. So that I can watch the temperature gauge, I need to cut down a window. Welding blankets of this quality are hard to find nowadays. The dinner was excellent on both counts.

I can't believe this happened! Due to the fact that I expected my "welding blanket" to handle simple welds, I damaged a brand new race seat

Burnmarks and melting are very easy to do under this, and it doesn't appear to An old piece of cardboard would be better for me.

An updated review has been posted! I have received a new replacement, not square
3/5

We bought a 4x6 and removed it from the packaging. We have fiberglass strings all over. A grommet hole with fiberglass stuck inside made our fingers itchy when we tried to remove it. Then one left to go- I will not buy this product again as it is too cheaply made. The right-side grommet fell off when I was simply unfolding it. A recent update When I received the replacement, I was shocked to find out it had been cut crooked! There are only two straight and even edges when laid out on a deck. I will only use it to drape over my Traeger when the outside temperature falls I purchased the actual Traeger insulator for $99 last year. The only problem with Traeger is that it can be wrapped around drums and attached If the outside temperature is at least 35 degrees, then you have to remove the furnace hood or the insulation inside will start peeling off (according to It is the perfect size to cover a pellet box, top and sides of a drum with a 4x6 welder's blanket. You need to then pull the ends near each other and bring them together and secure with mini bungees. The heater works well for $25. You can easily remove it if you are not using it or the temperature rises above 35 degrees.
