What are these used for? Are they meant for merely oil pans, or can they also be used for stripped cylinder head bolt threads?

Because of the recessed threads, you would need to use a universal head bolt kit rather than a hex head bolt kit. Excellent product. It was well worth the price. I used it on my E60 M5 oil pan and it took no time at all. I had to strip the oil pan threads before I could drain the plug when I purchased the vehicle years ago. The plug was pretty much on its way to leaking. In the end, I saved myself a great deal of time and money by using this method. Rather than making the plug worse, this actually made it better. This is how it should have looked when it left.
