After starting to drill out stripped threads, I was concerned at first. In addition, I drilled and tapped with a tap handle while lying on the floor, and I had the bike on the stand for all drilling and tapping operations. It was not necessary to save the used oil, but I poured it through after taping was completed. In addition to the grease on the drill and tap, shavings were collected with the drill. Finally, I tipped the bike over so it was facing straight up, and I pumped fresh oil through the engine. In the end, I changed oil and filter, ran the bike for about 20 minutes, and then drained the oil. Refilled oil and replaced filter as well as tappet oil screen, then returned to repair. The shavings still had a bit of sludge on them. I did not include oil changes in my time estimation, so the total time was Having bought a new oil plug at the parts store, I can now tighten up the plug tightly and keep drips to a minimum. What I learned from this was fantastic, but it would have been better if I had known about it sooner. An old plug of mine seeped because it was a self-tapping plug. Currently, everything on the floor is dry and the kit came with 5 inserts in case I need to use them again on another item.
I ordered the Time-Sert kit from this seller and it arrived within hours. I would recommend it to anyone. A layer of bubble wrap best protected the Time-Sert kit when it arrived. This is a very popular thread repair. If you're not familiar with it, it's Time-Sert. Thread inserts for the Time-Sert machine are simple to install. In order to use the Time-Sert kit's bits, you will need a tool such as a cordless drill or tap handle. With the kit, you will find instructions that are easy to follow. I have attached pictures to show the repair I made with the Time-Sert kit I purchased from the.
I highly recommend it. The quality of the product is determined by the price. During the installation of the rubber plug, the aluminum threads protecting the oil drain hole on my Harley Street Glide stripped out. This kit is the result of research and ordering. Within a couple of days, the package arrived. It only took me two minutes to complete the repair without having to remove the oil pan from the bike. After 2500 miles, no leaks have occurred. As new, I feel that this pan is better as I have steel threads in it and can put the original drain plug on. Even though it is not stripped, there is a part of me that wants to apply this to the transmission drain hole.
Highly skilled technician changed the oil. In any case, this kit was able to tap into it and the timesert function has been working very well so far. There is just one reason it isn't a 5 star rating all 5 thread inserts were not able to be inserted into the threads. Due to the futo valve extending out 3 threads, there is no way I can easily fit rtv or multiple washers in that space. Aside from that, this is a solid product. It came with the 1/2-20 kit that I mounted on my 1967 Chrysler Newport pan.
The Harley that a friend of mine had been looking for has finally been found. Yet, he had no idea they can have problems (threads pull out of the drain plug hole) and after putting other fixes on them that didn't work. The kit arrived within a few hours, and his bike was up and running in no time. Fixing it will only be possible if you do. In a proper and permanent manner.
These kits are great, even though they are pricey, they were easy to use and repaired my Harley Street Glide's stripped drain plug.
For repairing the transmission drain plug threads on Harley Davidson Softail 2007 models. A hand drill was used to accomplish this after the shocks were removed and the bike was raised enough for the drill to reach. It was a wooden fixture I built to help drill a straight hole. In order to catch all metal shavings, the drill bit and taps were greased. For this repair, the kit is the best option. You will be pleased with the results if you take your time.
The kit was used to repair the drain hole threads (and convert them from 1/2"-- Approximately 13 inches long and 1/2 inch wide The 20th) on a Harley Davidson four-wheeler It is NOT necessary to remove the transmission from the frame to change speeds. I am very happy with this program, it saves me so much time.
