Questions & Answers

12 mm x 1 is required for bicycles. Is this the wheat I'm looking for if the 0 thread fork has a smooth 12mm hole?

No, find someone who has all of the necessary paperwork. The Heli- Coil kits are designed to repair damaged holes that have already been threaded for the Heli-X dimension. Coil.

Is it compatible with a Chevrolet Silverado from 2010?

To prevent the filings from entering the combustion chamber, the heads must be removed. It should work fine if the heads use 12mm spark plugs.

What is the best tap size? Isn't it true that I have my own spigots?

Because the Heli-Kit includes a tap, use it. The coil is larger than the standard tap size, and it replaces the old threads with a steel insert, making it easier to install the spark plugs because the aluminum or cast iron threads bind over time.

On the drill press handle, it worked perfectly
5/5

Used it to fix a used Delta drill press and it worked great. One of the handles has been glued into the (discontinued) pinion assembly by a previous owner. The handle barely screwed into the remaining threads and wobbled a lot. The HeliCoil kit threaded the existing pinion extremely well after using the recommended drill bit. The HeliCoil insert was simple to install, and the handle is secure. I didn't break off the coil's end, which served as a handle stopper. You'd never know unless you knew the drill press had been repaired. It's as good as new. Other thread repair systems were more expensive, but this one was a fraction of the price.

Brembo brake repair on a Camaro
5/5

I'm really happy with how this kit turned out. This kit helped me repair a stripped bolt hole on a Brembo brake caliper. I used the Vermont American 31/64 drill bit in a hand drill with the caliper in a vise to drill the hole straight, then cleaned it and lubricated the tap with Remington Gun Oil I had on hand. I used a 12 point 11mm socket to run the tap down a quarter turn at a time, then reversed it slightly, slow but perfect threads, and then cleaned it out with brake cleaner to get the oil out of the threads so the Loctite could adhere to a clean surface. I used Loctite to coat the freshly cut threads, then threaded the coil down until flush with the top, breaking off the bottom tab with a 12pt 10mm socket over the Helicoil insert tool. I let that sit for 24 hours before installing my brake caliper with the original bolt and about 80 lb/ft of torque. The insert didn't budge and is still holding strong.

It worked fine, but the packaging was different from what Amazon advertised, and you'll need additional parts and tools to finish the job
5/5

Pro: It worked perfectly! For less than $50 in parts, you can have a permanent solution. I calculated that having an auto repair shop replace the oil pan would cost around $ 500 (or $80-$100). If I did it myself, it would cost me $200 and a lot of time. br>br>Con: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is not the place In Heli- there are no instructions. I had to look up a Heli-coil package on the internet. Look for this model in the coil catalog to see if you need a 31/64" metal drill bit with a Permatex'red' thread. It was a lot easier than I anticipated! This kit was used to repair a stripped out bolt on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee; however, it does not come with a drill bit, which is usually listed under the "items purchased together" tab
5/5

This kit worked perfectly after I followed the instructions I found on an online forum. It turned out to be a lot less difficult than I had expected. To ensure that the insert does not move, I recommend using thread locker. It was just a precautionary measure for me, and I had no issues with it. This kit performed admirably in the end.

Typical Heli- Coil Product: The kit is complete, but the inserts aren't particularly long
4/5

If you really need longer inserts for things like head bolts vs spark plugs, you can order them online. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't need it in the end, and the rating reflects my use of the products in the past. I work on some older cars, and unfortunately, many mechanics don't seem to use torque wrenches.

This is an excellent tool
5/5

This tool is great for replacing threads in aluminum heads with steel inserts that make changing spark plugs and torqueing to specs much easier.

This is an excellent thread repair kit
5/5

I used these to repair the handle spindle on a drill press that I was rebuilding. The previous owner epoxied the old handles back into the spindle after stripping away the old threads. This was a fantastic solution. I'd buy them again if the opportunity presented itself.
