Questions & Answers
There's no need for a hose pipe, and it works perfectly as long as you get the boot they recommend.
The uni fit boots must be purchased. I tried it with a pair of OEM boots, but they won't stretch far enough. I believe the Uni Fit is available in neoprene or silicone, and it works well!

The axle had been replaced about four years before, and it was still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. I figured I'd just get a new axle and swap it out while it was still under warranty. Wrong. After pounding on the old one for 1 1/2 days and failing to remove it, I finally gave up and took it to the shop. Later that day, I received a call from them, stating that they, too, were unable to remove it. Everyone in the shop tried every trick in the book to get it off, but in the end, they gave up and told me to come get my car. I was at a loss for what to do. Except for the leaky boot, which hadn't been leaking long enough to get any dirt inside it, the axle was in good shape. br>br>While looking for a solution on the internet, I came across this tool. I didn't realize you could get rid of things like that. replace a cv boot without disassembling the axle (you can find videos online demonstrating how to do this) Amazon had the best price by far, and it arrived two days later. Only Dorman stretch type boots are required, but they are no more expensive than other brands, and my local auto parts store had one in stock for my vehicle. br>br>After removing my old boot and cleaning off the old grease, I installed the new boot in about 10 minutes using this tool - The two metal straps are included as well. It took about 30 minutes to complete the repair in total. br>br>The instructions were fairly detailed, and it was clear that the operating pressure should be between 58 and 60 pounds per square inch. This tool does not control the pressure of 101 psi, which is controlled by the air compressor regulator. I used 60 pounds per square inch and it worked perfectly. Just make sure you pair it with the appropriate boots. The tool jaws will almost certainly be ripped and/or damaged if you wear standard boots. (Remember to watch the online videos to learn how to use it. )br>br>Another suggestion is to purchase or borrow a strap banding tool. I made use of pliers. I used a screwdriver to tighten them up, but it was a pain. After I finished, I spent around $14 on an OTC 4623 CV Joint Banding Tool And Cutter, which will make changing the boot even faster next time. br>br>If your axle has been leaking for a while and there is dirt inside the boot, it is possible that the joint inside has been ruined, and simply changing the boot will not fix it. The axle must be replaced. This tool, on the other hand, is unbeatable for simple boot changes. I got a great deal on this for just over a hundred dollars, so it'll pay for itself after one or two boot changes, versus hundreds of dollars. Purchasing a complete axle.
I purchased this tool and paired it with the universal fit cv boots that were recommended. Without 150 psi, the tool could only stretch the boot a couple of inches. Then, at full extension, it ripped the boots in half, which was not fun at $25 per boot. I followed all of the instructions and used the tool correctly. The tool's build quality is excellent, so it gets two stars instead of one.
I gave it four stars because it had dirty grease marks on it when I received it- Before it was sent to me, it had been a badly cleaned return. It was a huge success. Simple to work with. There will be no surprises. It's perfect for the job. On a 2010 Toyota Corolla, I replaced two CV joints on the outside.
The tool is very useful, and once I figured out how to use it, I had no problems with it. The instructions are extremely poor, and the person who writes it might benefit from attempting to use it based on the brief instructions. Clearly, it could be simplified with images or drawings, as well as detailed instructions on how to perform CV joints for those who require additional assistance. The maximum pressure that can be applied should be listed in the specification. br>br>BUT, on the whole, it's a fantastic tool that any mechanic or tool enthusiast should have. JUST IN CASE is something that every freak should have in their box. Another reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the Dorman "kit" of boots, and I would advise getting actual fitted boots from Arizona or another supplier for application.
Before using it, make sure your boots are the right size and are durable. We tried it on a cv boot for a side by side, but the tool was too large. For a larger and more powerful cv boot, this is the best option.
I liked the product because it makes cv boot installation a lot easier, which is fantastic.
As expected, the product performed well. It was extremely difficult for me to remove the axle. So it was either another axle or this tool that I was going to buy. I figured I'd give this tool a try since I'd have it on hand for other boots. The boot installation took around 2 minutes. It will take about 30 minutes. in order to complete the task This is a tool that I would strongly suggest to anyone.
