The instrument is made of plastic, but it is not inexpensive. If you're replacing the front oil seal on an LS engine, get this tool to save yourself the trouble. Exact lines up the timing cover. Unlike the one they sell with the oil seal already installed (which is more difficult to line up), this one comes with the oil seal already installed.
A must-have for proper alignment, this tool is beautifully machined. Make sure you get it right the first time.
The tool performed exactly as I had hoped. br>Made aligning the timing cover ony 5 a lot easier. 3 liter Chevrolet engine.
Installing the seal and aligning the front cover on the GM 5 is a breeze with this tool.
Because of the poor quality of the product, it was necessary to obtain one from the GM factory.
It was simple to use and worked well. Just remember to oil the seal before tightening each bolt in the front cover, and you'll be able to turn it.
It appears to be overpriced by about $20, but it works well and does not leak the timing cover.
