Old shopsmiths had three sizes, but I'm not sure how much information I can gather from them. There is a little bit of thick mating material on the jaws about 1/4", so if you can get clearance from behind and that there is a center point to push away from, you can do it. A fly landed on my head and I didn't know how to get it off The jaws clipped onto the back of the wheel that was very close to the engine. But I managed to slip behind it well enough to catch There is a way to change the jaws to pull from the inside and the outside of the unit. I'm not sure how helpful this will be.
The answer is no. The box it came in has a sturdy construction, and I store it in there.

My 1980 Ariens ST524 24" snowblower had a 4" one and I used it to *almost* remove a wheel hub from the axle. In other words, the hub of that axle was completely corroded. I urge anyone reading this who does not have the grease or antiseize applied to this area of ANY piece of equipment to run out there right now and do so. Rather than destroying it, this might be the 1st thing you should try if the hub is seized on there. I accidentally mushroomed both ends of the axle by pounding the area with a 3 pound hammer and PB blaster, resulting in small holes in the axle. In my opinion, I had no doubt the gear puller would bend and its teeth would break off, but I was surprised to find that it started to remove the hub. I had damaged those ends so badly that the puller bent the hubs to the point of splitting them apart. That's pretty impressive. I could have used a grinder to adjust them, but by that point, I had done too much damage. In the end, I just cut the axle in half with a saw and had to order new parts. I wish I would have tried this product to begin with, along with some PB Blaster and WD-40!.
Getting the large puller to work perfectly was no problem. This is a large set of heavy-duty tools that now occupy a place in my toolbox.
These are probably fine if you're only doing light work, lawn mowers, bicycles, etc. However, if you require anything more serious, you'll likely be If you have hardened metal, don't trust their grasp, go with a pro An alternative is to use a quality puller.
I bought these steering wheel pullers when I needed to remove a steering wheel. This 3-pack was the best choice for me since I wasn't sure what size I needed. I was pleased with their performance. The complaints have not been heard. After using them for a project, I moved on to another project.
It is exactly what it should be. It was no problem to remove a pulley from the grasshopper spindle. Easily paid for itself after a single use.
It performed as I had expected. This type of puller is my favorite.
They should have used Nylock nuts instead of standard nuts. They could have been more easily adjusted for movement that way.
This is a very strong, easy-to-use product and is well worth its.
