Questions & Answers

What country does it come from?

Since 1934, The Wyeth Company has been manufacturing in Newark, Ohio. The Scott Company is a company that specializes in

Is this a genuine Wyeth-designed product? Who is Scott Puller? In the photo, it appears to be a different shade of red, and it is less expensive than similar sites. ?

As far as I can tell, this is a genuine Wyeth-designed piece. Scott Puller is a writer. This is a fantastic product.

Is the winch complete with the winch, handle, and pulley as shown in the picture?

Yes, it comes with a handle and a pulley. It's of good quality.

Anyone know where I could get a good case to keep this in? Is it a pelican or something else?

This thing is approximately 14 inches long, 7 inches wide and deep, and weighs approximately 30 pounds. I keep mine in a 6 gallon bucket, which works fine; I do have a Pelican case that will fit it, but I think the bucket is probably more convenient. br>This is simply my point of view. This pulley is a true workhorse, in my opinion.

Ratchet puller with a lot of power
5/5

I was looking for the Wyeth-designed "More Power Puller" in particular. Scott Company, I was a little hesitant to order from Amazon because it was significantly less expensive than the other online vendors. It arrived, and I was relieved to discover that it was the genuine article, and that the vendor appears to be a drop shipper from another dealer. br>br>The 6,000-pound dead lift and 12,000-pound drag/pull capacity of the double line is impressive. The single rope has a capacity of 3,000 pounds dead lift and 6,000 pounds drag/pull. The enclosed pulley block is used to achieve double line capacity. br>br>Has the AmSteel Blue Rope, which does not store energy and thus does not cause a potentially fatal backlash in the event of a break, as the steel cable does. br>br>This thing has been made in the United States since 1934, in the heartland of Ohio, and you can tell it's built to last.

To be honest, I expected a lot more for the price; I haven't used it yet, but my initial impression is that the design and manufacturing processes were rushed
3/5

When you pay $400 for a come along/puller, you don't expect it to come out of the box with paint flaking off nearly every surface. So why bother painting it in the first place? Is it true that adding some zerk fittings to the grease-required parts would eliminate the margins on this thing? I'm debating whether or not it should be returned.

"May cause gigantic balls since you can go wherever you want with this thing," a warning should be included with this item
5/5

Have you ever felt completely isolated from the rest of the world? Is it possible to be alone in a dangerous world with no one to turn to for help? In a world full of peril, is there danger on every hand? And when I was on the verge of death, I reached into my pocket, and what did I find? What exactly did I come across? Nothing. I can't put my Puller in my pocket because it's too big. It will fit in my God-awful Jeep! You're not going to find anything in your pocket that can withstand 25 inches of mud, 2000 pounds of terrain-devastating machinery, and a bobbly-headed power puff girl with the words "I like it in the mud" taped to her back. Without fail, this thing pushed me away. When I was alone, I preferred the rope to the cable version. It took roughly 15 minutes to complete. 20 min. I later used this device to serenade a tornado into a whisper contest, despite the fact that I don't speak French. When I do, however, I do so in Russian.

Wow! This is how I dragged (yes, dragged) a 1946 Chevy dump truck onto a deck
5/5

more than a trailer The truck tipped the scales at around 8300 pounds. It was literally dragged because the back wheels did not turn at all. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this monstrosity of a "come-on. " along.

It's not as bad as it appears! Well-made, larger and heavier than the photo suggests, and much more durable
5/5

I couldn't find a bulldozer to help me rescue my stuck tractor (12,000 pounds), so I bought one of these and used it to pull it uphill using double snatch blocks and a little tractor help. The bulldozer would have been much more expensive, but I get to keep it. Unless you're The Rock, I'd recommend the longer handle option. I'm going to have to go out and buy one. In comparison to the dinky machines that have a similar rating, I think the rating is quite conservative. I strongly advise using the synthetic line because I can't imagine operating a manual puller without being hit by a broken cable. A steel cable is going to cause a lot of damage. The synthetic cable, on the other hand, will not work.

Come along tool with the best all-around performance
5/5

Regular come alongs pale in comparison to the quality and overall ease of use of this product; after using it for the first time, I immediately discarded my old come along. Because it uses a synthetic cable rather than a steel cable, this product is not only easier to use, but it also performs better in terms of weight moved. This item outperforms standard come alongs thanks to its detachable ratcheting handle and the way it works. Hands down, the best purchase I've made in a long time.

HORRIBLE PAINT
4/5

HORRIBLE PAINT. . . HORRIBLE PAINT. . . HORRIBLE PAINT. . . This puller is going to be incredible, I'm sure of it. I've already used it to slide a 3,500lb shipping container to line it up with another, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. There's probably another 1,000-2,000 gallons of fuel in the container. There's over 1,500 pounds of stuff inside. The smooth concrete floor, on the other hand, may have made things a little easier. br>br>Aside from that, I'm not sure what else I can do with it right now. Because of my experience with the paint finish, I decided to write this review today. In my hands, it literally disintegrated, staining them. I had to use chemicals because it was nearly impossible to remove with a strong hand cleaner. br>br>All I wanted to do was disengage the latches so I could roll the cable back up when I was finished. This was a time-consuming process in and of itself because there is no simple way to lock the latches so you can freely rotate the wheel. You can sort of push the farthest locking lever towards the handle, then push the handle back to disengage the secondary locking lever. . . but the cable needs to be kept taut while rolling up the line, and the cable needs to be guided a little, otherwise everything rolls up loose and sloppy. This is, in reality, a two-man show. br>br>Needless to say, the paint rubbed off all over the place, as you can see in my photo. All of the gear teeth and latches are shedding paint. . . and I don't mean chipping. It melted off in a similar way to uncured rattle can paint. It's incredible that these guys use such a shoddy coating on something that needs to be handled so much, especially when they charge so much for it; I've bought cheaper items with a more durable coating.

I really enjoyed it! This device was extremely effective! br>br>It was a little overkill for the job I bought it for, but I bought it in case I needed it for something else in the future
5/5

My son and I own a 15-acre property on the crest of a mountain, and this device (which I refer to as a "come-to-Jesus" device) allows us to communicate with our neighbors. Along the way,') dragged a 200-pound (guess) boulder from my mountain spring. There wasn't a single issue. I justified the overkill purchase by pointing out that we've had a couple of close calls on the property with visitors' trucks nearly driving off the side of the road. One of these days, it will actually happen, and I need to be ready. Right now, I am. br>br>I've used the smaller, less expensive come-ons in the past. Previously, longs were essentially one-dimensional. Deals with shotguns You use it, and it isn't suitable for a second use because something has gone wrong. Of course, it could be 'operator error,' but with this item, there will be no operator error issues.
