Questions & Answers

Can I use the 80W panel to charge my truck's battery if it's dead? What is the approximate time frame?

Good day, my friend, and thank you for your question. As far as I know, the best way to extend the life of your battery is to keep it fully charged during daily use. br>The peak power of our panel is 80W, but in normal sunlight, you can expect to get around 50W, (2. 0A 18V) is suitable for the majority of lead-acid batteries. br>It takes about 3-hours to charge a lead-acid battery with a power of 120W (12V60A)br>It takes about 3-hours to charge a lead-acid battery with a power of 120 The battery will take 4 hours to fully charge.

Isn't V*a=w the case? So, how does a 60 watt panel only produce 2 watts of light? At 18 volts, 2 amps is a lot. Wouldn't this then be a 39? 6w panel?

The electronics are likely to be capable of nominally handling up to 3A. Solar panels produce around 20 volts when exposed to direct sunlight. So there you have it, 60 watts. When it comes to solar panels, it's best to half the wattage rating so you know what you'll get the majority of the time (angle to the sun, shade, positioning, dirt on the panel, etc.). You can then size your solar panels to match your power requirements with confidence.

Can these solar panels be connected to a Sherpa 50 or 100 from Goal Zero?

A "BiX Car Cigarette Socket" with a converter adapter would be required. Then, to connect it to the Yeti 400, you'll need a Goal Zero 98043 Adapter Cable. br>While you could splice your own cable to make this work, this is the quickest and dirtiest way to connect it.

Is it glass or acrylic that the PV cells are laminated with?

It appears to be the same as 5V20W, with the exception that the cells are laminated in plastic rather than glass or acrylic, making it more flexible. It's possible that the plastic is polyethylene, because it's semi-rigid. silicone sealant was used to keep the pieces rigid and glued together. The PV cells are semi-transparent. They are said to be rigid but bendable to a 30 degree angle without causing damage.

If you're going camping with electronics, this is a must-have
5/5

This was purchased at the last minute for a camping trip. I was bringing a lot of electronics and wasn't sure if I would be able to charge them. My access was far worse than I had anticipated, so this solar panel came in handy. It did an excellent job of refreshing the basics on sunny days: Computers, cellphones, hotspots, and small backup battery packs It wasn't nearly enough on cloudy days. I put it in the front window if I was going to be away from camp. Despite the lower efficiency, small battery packs and mobile phones were still able to get a decent charge using this set-up. Well- This panel performed admirably when exposed to direct sunlight. It folds down small enough to fit in my carry-on and checked baggage on the return trip. Note: It's a bit of a burden to transport. on the luggage The TSA gave it a thorough inspection, but it is still considered carry-on luggage. For domestic travel in the United States, it is legal. So far, I've been very pleased with this purchase and plan to use it again.

I placed two orders for the 100W, both of which were fulfilled
3/5

I ordered two 100W units, but they both arrived with 80W, so I had to return both. I discovered the error on the product package, which states that it is 100W but is actually 80W on the inside. I'm hoping that Allpowers has fixed the problem so that I can order 100W again. You can see the mistake on the package label in the attached photos.

Housing is made of brittle plastic
3/5

I've only used it twice, and the plastic cap that covers the plug-ins has already broken. It had never been abused and had only been opened in the backyard for emergency practice, so I was surprised it broke so easily. It's too bad. I had high hopes for this to last a long time.

It's a strong performance that's well-made
5/5

I was skeptical that this would provide enough power, but after an eight-day camping trip in northern Arizona, I can confidently say that this one now travels with me wherever I go. My Xterra's windshield was perfectly covered with it. To keep the wind from blowing it around, I clipped it into the wipers and my roof rack. To keep the truck battery charged, the main line was connected to a cigarette outlet. I also charged my devices with the USB ports on the panels. It produced enough power to keep my 50-quart ARB refrigerator at 32 degrees in temperatures that were in the 80s outside, despite the fact that the fridge was inside a black SUV that was much warmer. It also provided daily charging for two iPhones, an iPad, a Samsung phone, and a charger for two full-size Nikon camera batteries. The refrigerator was always on, and we usually had two to three devices plugged into it at any given time. br>br>Of course, positioning it in direct sunlight is necessary. However, it was surprising how little light was required to establish at least rudimentary current flow. It produced energy in the early morning and at dusk, though not at the full 80w. On a partly cloudy/overcast day, it's the same story. br>br>On the trip, we encountered some strong winds. The durable cover and clip loops served their purpose admirably. It flopped around a little, but there were no obvious signs of wear. It folds up very small for storage, and the panels are protected by a heavy nylon cover. The connectors are kept together by an outside pocket.

Durable and Reliable (Not Fire-Resistant! ) LOL
5/5

I'm proud of this company for not releasing a low-cost product that met or exceeded my expectations. This was something I used religiously for a month before it caught fire in my trailer in September. To be honest, the only thing that could destroy this kit is fire; the panels flex under pressure, and the canvas cover makes it extremely rain resistant. This and my gaming computer were the only things I cared about out of everything that had been destroyed. That should be enough to persuade you to take action. When I can afford it, I'll buy a new one, so I'm hoping the company will still be producing them by then. I was worried that because of previous reviews, they would give me the wrong order, but they didn't, and I received all of my panels as well. It's worthwhile to mention.

My power station and this are a great match
5/5

I used this solar panel and a LEDKINGDOMUS 300 Watt Power Station to charge my Mavic 2 Zoom drone while camping. It was a total success. I had sunny days, and each day I was able to fully charge my power station as well as a couple of cell phones. I was able to charge both at the same time, and then each day, I used the power station to charge four batteries for my drone. It was the ideal balance of weight, power consumption, and convenience for the job at hand. More power would be nice, but then you'd have to carry more weight. Even in full sun, a larger charging station would not be able to fully charge it. As a result, the combination is ideal for four drone flights per day and something I can take to remote locations whenever I want.

I've used this to charge phones directly as well as charge the Allpower 10500mAh power bank, and it's a great idea, but long-term use has clouded the results
3/5

It performs as well as, if not better than, what I could have hoped for. My only concern is that the cable connecting the Solar Panel and the Power Bank is relatively short, implying that the Power Bank will most likely be exposed to direct sunlight. I bought a 6' DC5521 to Anderson cable, but it wouldn't fit in the DC output port, despite the fact that the specs said it was a DC5521. The fact that there is no way to manage the cables that came with it is another minor annoyance. I was able to find a small net bag to store them in, but it would have been nice if the product had come with one. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I did some performance testing on a mostly cloudy day. As a baseline, my AllPowers AP-100 receives 39 watts from the house line. Portable Solar Generator 005 with 100500mAh capacity. The solar panel provided a maximum of 45 watts in when the sun was not obscured. The watts in varied depending on the cloudiness, with the lowest being 13 watts in full overcast, at which point my wife stood between the sun and the panel, lowering the input to 8 watts. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> When charging the AllPowers Generator in direct Texas sun, the input is initially detected at 39-volts. With no change in the brightness of the sun, the power drops to 4 watts after a few minutes. If I unplug, wait 30 seconds, and then respond, it returns to 30 watts for a minute or two before dropping back to 4 watts.
