Questions & Answers

When connected to a 36v battery system, what is the voltage on the dc load side?

36 volts. This is not MPPT in any way.

Why does it stop charging when it reaches the number 36? When the battery is fully charged, the voltage is set to 37 volts. 8 ?

It is extremely effective.

It contains no information about the discharge current or wattage rating. What exactly is it, exactly?

Charge and discharge rates are limited to 20 amps on the controller. The current is 20 amps.

Easily charge a variety of battery types and voltages
5/5

I'm a big fan of this charger. It can work with all major types of 12v, 24v, 36v, and 48v batteries. It automatically detects the voltage, and then all you have to do is select the type of battery you're using. After that, just add solar panels and you're good to go. It does an excellent job of charging my 36v Li-ion battery. A lithium-ion ebike battery and a 12v SLA are used. This is a fantastically well-made device.

It appears to be a reliable power source
4/5

On boathouses and piers, I install these systems for a living. I bought two of these for a solar system for a boathouse, and they both recognized the Lipo battery right away and began charging it, which took only a few minutes. They've been putting in consistent work for over a week. In my experience, if they last a week, they will last a long time; I've installed 12 of these in the last three years, and none of them have returned. Others, on the other hand, have not fared as well. I'm glad I tried this brand; it appears to be performing well so far.

It appears to be of excellent quality
5/5

Don't be fooled by the images in the description; they aren't always accurate. It's a lot bigger than it looks. I received it yesterday and installed it today, so all I have to say for the time being is about my experience installing it and checking the parameters. I used the defaults for the parameters; I didn't have to make any changes because it worked right out of the box. It's connected in parallel to four 360 watt 48VDC panels and appears to be utilizing every watt available, despite the fact that the weather has recently turned cloudy. What I like best about the charger is that the terminals are large enough to accommodate 4 AWG wire, which surprised me because most solar chargers I've used have terminals that can barely accommodate a 10awg wire. You can see battery voltage through its window, which is useful, but it would be better if it provided a percentage instead. I have another solar charger and have grown accustomed to the percentage, which tells me a lot more about the state of the batteries and panels than just the voltage in my case. How do I know it's working? br>br>How do I know it's working? I had two sets of solar panels, seven each of 370 watts and four each of 360 watts, connected to one heavy duty 60 amps charger before I hooked it up, which was not the best way to connect panels. So now the 370W panels are connected to the 60A charger, and the 360W panels are connected to this charger (the PowMr Solar Controller 80A). I have six AGM batteries connected in series to a 5,000-watt inverter (10,000-watt peak). A 10-circuit manual transfer switch connects the inverter to the main electrical panel. I couldn't turn all circuits on at the same time before installing this charger, even on a sunny day, because there wasn't enough power to charge the batteries and run the transfer switch's devices. The batteries were fully charged after installing the PowMr Solar Controller 80A, and there was enough power left to run the devices, including a modern refrigerator. br>br>So far, everything appears to be in working order; this is a fantastic charger for the price, and I highly recommend it.

PWM solar charge controller that works great
5/5

This is a fantastic solar charge controller with PWM. It's simple to operate and navigate through the menus. The unit works well, and the screw terminals are of good quality, not loosening or having issues with wire up to 10AWG. However, I've noticed that the menus cycle through on their own over time, which is strange because I'd like to keep it locked on the main display screen, but it changes for some reason.

The other reviewer was correct in his assessment! The previous assessment was dead on
5/5

Obtaining a unit with a small 12 gauge port connector is inconvenient and, in my opinion, not worth the money. I've purchased a few over the years, and my cables have sorted themselves out. With 10 gauge cables, even connecting your cables on the other mondels is nearly impossible if you're running a solar setup. I built a power box with a light port that connected directly to my vdc pond pump. Today is only the first day, but it's already off to a fantastic start.

Connection terminals that work well
5/5

On a 200-watt solar installation, this low-cost controller met my needs. It was recommended for terminals, so I purchased it. They are capable of holding 8 gauge wire. In contrast to a large number of others, including the industry leader.

With the meter turned off, check the output - 2volts
5/5

The only issue I have with it is that it can reach a maximum of 30 degrees. 4v intermittently on output, it became HOT, and I smelled the'magic smoke,' so I disconnected the panels right away. It was powered by an agm bank with a voltage of 24 volts. My personal mobility device. It was dismantled and is now being used on a flooded 24v system. I'll have to keep an eye on it and unplug it when the temperature reaches 29 degrees. I don't want to ruin my batteries, so I'm looking for a number of 6 or higher. I contacted the seller and sent the same picture. I'd already taken it down, but I needed to put it up again in the morning to take photos, so the batteries were low, and I didn't have time to wait for it to overcharge. Maybe I got a bad one, but I'm not going to get another because it'll be too difficult to prove they're wrong.

Invest in a more capable device
3/5

When a 36v system reaches 35v, it stops charging. The panel is large enough, and there are plenty of batteries, but the charge controller will not stay in the charging mode. I contacted the seller and gave up after sending detailed information and photos of my setup and receiving no response.
