Questions & Answers

Is there a blocking diode on this?

As CX stated in 2018, I do not believe this panel includes a blocking diode. Is it possible for the seller to confirm whether or not the panel has a blocking diode? Thanks

How long does it take for a dead 12v automotive battery to be recharged in good sunlight?

This is highly dependent on how you define "dead" and "good sunlight." However, I'll use my experience with a 10 watt solar charger on a very low battery in the south as an example. I maintain a church truck that is only started on Sundays, and it doesn't drive long enough for the alternator to do anything, and I'm not sure if the alternator even works, so every start drains the battery significantly. Within 2 to 3 days Before I installed a solar panel, the battery could go from fully charged to unable to start the truck in three months. When Covid arrived, I charged the battery one last time with a battery charger to bring it up to the point where it could start the truck, but it was still starting slowly because I couldn't leave it on overnight. I purchased a 10 watt solar panel, attached magnets to the back, and mounted it to the hood before connecting it to the battery directly. Every Sunday, it now starts with full battery voltage and even recharges the battery from the starter drain without the use of an alternator. Sorry for the long answer, but there are no real constants with solar, and everything is very subjective to your location and even the angle of the panel. It gets about 10 hours of sunlight every day and it's sitting flat on the hood to get the best use of the noon sun, which I believe is the strongest.

Is there a set of instructions included with this item? Is the plastic coating to be peeled off as well? It appears to be bubbly, but I'm not sure if it is. ?

Yes, the thin plastic must be peeled away. There are two different PDF files available in the product information section of this item if you require instructions.

"Will this be able to simultaneously charge two deep cycle battles?" ?

At 12 volts DC, 10 watts is only. Most deep cycles use 80-83 amps at peak. You're talking about batteries with a capacity of 120 amp hours, so you're looking at a total capacity of 200 amp hours Peak time is 300 hours.

THE DIODE HAS BEEN VERIFIED! Many reviews/questions asked if this product included a diode to keep the car battery from draining
5/5

To be sure, I ran a thorough test. I tested the solar panel with a multimeter that was set to continuity measurement. The multimeter would attempt to power the solar panel if the leads were connected via the positive clip. There was no logical progression! There was continuity when I connected the leads in the opposite direction (positive lead to negative clip). This means that the solar panel has a diode that prevents current from flowing from the positive clip (much like a car battery attempting to charge this device). Then I went to the 12v socket connector. br>br> Inside is an LED and a resistor, which must be cut out/removed. The car battery will be drained if this is left plugged in for the night. The 12v socket connector consumes no electricity after the resistor and LED have been removed. I have yet to put this to the test on a sunny day, so I have no idea how much voltage or current it will produce.

It can also be used as a solar-powered USB charger
5/5

This is great for trickle charging my truck battery, but I've only recently discovered that it can also be used as a USB solar charger.

. You can plug the solar charger into one socket and a car USB adapter into the other(s) if you buy a 12-volt power (cigarette lighter) extension with two or three outputs. There is no need to plug anything into the cigarette lighter. br>br>Power will flow from the solar panel into one socket, powering the USB adapter in the other.

It produces 17 volts and is available with a cigarrete lighter attachment or a direct connection to the battery
5/5

I've bought a variety of solar chargers from different manufacturers (but not this Eco-friendly one). So far, the most deserving model) who actually WARPED from sitting in the sun on the dashboard of a car! However, this charger has performed admirably thus far. It does produce power, but whether it will be sufficient to keep the battery from draining is unknown. I needed to know if it worked right away, so the first thing I did when I got it was use a VOM meter to measure the power coming from the charger (I had to do this because I've received other chargers that were DOA right out of the box). It does, in fact, create power, according to my findings. Of course it makes more power in bright sunlight (about 30% more) and it makes power even in overcast weather as well. br>br>It's a good question to ask why anyone would need this in the first place. The answer is that modern automobiles use battery power even when they are parked. This energy is used to keep the radio's memory and the computer in the car alive. Despite the fact that the power used to keep- The percentage of people who are still alive is extremely low - mA - mA - mA - mA - mA If the car sits idle for a week or longer, this power could be enough to drain the battery. Some people even disconnect the battery of a car that has been parked for an extended period of time, which helps to keep the battery from draining. However, because the computer memory is gone, if you disconnect the battery, the car will need to be driven for a long time for the computer to reset for the "smog test memory" (the best description I have, for certain functions that the computer stores and that are the first thing they look at during a smog check). Long story short, if you have a state smog check coming up soon - Disconnecting the battery is the absolute LAST thing you want to do! Since those functions haven't been reset, it won't pass smog. Regardless, I measured the voltage on the cigarrette lighter socket and came up with nothing. All of the fuses were good after I used the VOM with the dial set to check continuity. Instead of opening a can of worms by attempting to repair it, I simply used the supplied clips to secure the battery. The power cord was then run from the engine compartment to the passenger side door frame, where it was closed. And then I placed the charger on the dashboard, where it took a reading from the alligator clips as shown in the image. br>By the way, the panels are covered in plastic when you receive them; simply remove the plastic for optimal performance; if using a sharp object, be careful not to cut the panels. br>br>Update 9/21/2017: I've been using this solar panel for a few months now, and the battery hasn't died yet, so it's still going strong. I purchased a second unit and set it up in the same manner as the first - I simply routed the cable out of the engine compartment and into the cabin, then shut the door. The alternative is to cut a hole in the firewall to fit the cable through, which I don't want to do; instead, I'd rather change the cable every now and then if necessary. I suppose the only way I'd know if the cable is too worn is to periodically measure the voltage at the clamps; otherwise, it could stop charging without my knowledge.

Fraud - Low current output, not even close to 10 watts
3/5

Using a DC Ammeter multimeter, I measured the current coming from this solar charger to be 0. At 18 volts, the current is 022 amps. In bright sunlight, the voltage is 66 volts, which equals 0 volts. br> 41 Watts. br>Not even close to the 10 Watts claimed by your company. These solar chargers are fakes. br>Anyone purchasing one of these solar chargers should have a DC Ammeter or a multimeter that claims to be able to measure DC Current.

The lighter has a power on Red led, and it didn't work, so I ordered a second one, which arrived without the led on the plug, just an empty hole. I sent four messages to them, and they replied that it was supposed to work and that they would contact me after their week off. When I sent my last message, they said they needed a picture to figure out what was wrong. I'm returning this one with a photo and will replace it with one that works and has a working power on light; without the led light, you can't tell if it's working or not. br>br>The customer shouldn't have to buy a Multi-Tool. Scam! This item is a rip-off! They refuse to give me a refund, and I now have a panel that kills batteries rather than charging them
3/5

br>My brand new car battery is now damaged, and it no longer holds a charge like it did before I bought this product. br>The silicone didn't cure completely, and there are a bunch of craters. br>I'll update as time goes on
I hope this doesn't detract from the quality. br>* charges effectively, despite the fact that it is a cloudy day. This product isn't lasting very long, as evidenced by the burn in the cells. br>In addition, once it's in your hands, the return policy expires, so those are red flags; save your money. br>I also have an Allpowers solar panel, which is of much higher quality.

Solar Trickle Charger is an excellent product
5/5

This was purchased in order to be environmentally friendly. WORTHY 10W solar panel for recharging our teardrop trailer's on-board battery This month, we used the board car battery on a camping trip and were very happy with its performance. It isn't large enough to fully charge a battery, but it is more than adequate for providing a trickle charge to keep the battery charged. When we used it on a daily basis, it kept the battery charged enough to run our interior lights for the entire two-year period. a week-long journey Normally, they are only good for three days. 4 days. That's a win in my book. br>br>This panel is well-made and designed, and it includes adapters for charging the battery via direct post clips or a power outlet. A USB adapter would be a welcome addition, allowing it to be used to charge a phone or other device as well.
