It's not something I'd advise you to do. It's designed for AC hoses and performs admirably. A portable hydraulic hose crimper is available from Gates and other companies.
There is no mention of the country of origin anywhere on it.
THE 71500 WAS MADE TO WORK WITH AC HOSES. CONSULT THE HOSE MANUFACTURER FOR RECOMMENDED CRIMPING TOOLS FOR THIS KIND OF HOSE.

Working in a semi-remote location is a challenge for me. This is the first and only time I've used this tool. I'm enjoying it so far. I work in a semi-remote part of Alaska, and instead of having new air conditioning lines flown in, I can repair them. It's not designed for tight spaces, and it can be difficult to maneuver into place to make the repair.
I've never been let down by a Mastercool tool. For the DIY'er, it's a little pricey, but it's well worth it. I've never been dissatisfied with a Mastercool tool that I've bought. The crimper is simple to operate, and the finished crimp looks like it came from the factory. Anyone looking for a crimper should check out this tool. The manual crimper is less expensive, but when you consider the extra dies that come with it, it's a better deal.
