Yes. Rubber hose is cut in half. soft tubing with a 3" ID and a P & 1- PVCthrough 5" ID. It won't cut metal or anything else that isn't plastic. zoz
A failed attempt to cut 2" ID filler neck hose was made. The hose would collapse if it were made of thin walled hose. Then you might be able to cut through a 3" hose with a thicker wall construction. It's ideal for fuel line hoses that aren't too long.
Without a doubt. I used it to cut the hoses that connect the swimming pool filter to the filter. That is the primary reason for my purchase of this cutter.

Cutting small diameter hose is not a problem for this tool. However, it struggles when cutting larger diameter hoses. I needed to cut a section out of the fuel fill tube to install a return line from my lift pump, and it struggled. I was on the verge of giving up and trying something else. It's not something I'd go out of my way to buy. For small diameters (1/2" and smaller), it works fine. I'd look for something else if it was any larger.
Cut with care, speed, and precision. When you've got these, there's no need for a ratchet style. Oh, and unlike most on the market, they can cut a wide variety of tubing. I haven't tried it on a rigid pipe yet.
Even when I need to run a hose under the car and trim it, it works perfectly. I've used it to connect vacuum hoses all the way up to a 3/4 heater hose and - Push-lok hose with a diameter of ten inches. It's well worth the money, and it usually results in much cleaner cuts than I can achieve on my own.
I cut 1 1/2" i. using this tool. On my sailboat, I need a sanitation hose for the head. I had to be careful because the hose is reinforced with stainless steel wire, so I used side cutters on the wire, which cut right through the hose with ease. It also made a 3/4-inch cut (i. e. No issues with rubber hose. This is a tool that I would recommend.
We cut a lot of rubber hose into 1/4" and 1-inch lengths. 1/2" is fine for a quick cut, but the one we got only lasted six months. The blade appears to be in good condition, but it is probably worn out. Another brand cutter is three times as old and still works well, but the blade appears to be worn out - As a result, I'm going to say that the Gates cutter's design is inferior to the one we already have.
Prior to making my purchase, I had seen these. It's a fantastic hose cutter. br>With this cutter, you can't possibly go wrong. I suppose you'd need a new blade if you were cutting metallic hose.
