Questions & Answers
The jacks come in a set of two. The jacks were probably designed to be used in pairs by the manufacturer. Apart from supporting the vehicle with one jack for a minute or two while raising the opposite side to safely place the other jack. I'd be on the safe side and say BOTH/COMBINED jacks can support 3 tons (6,000 pounds). Remember to apply the parking brake and chock both wheels that are still on the ground. Keep your distance from danger!
The question is divided into two parts. First and foremost, do these jack stands have a better appearance than the four-legged jack stands that are available for less money? These are without a doubt the most attractive jack stands available. The design is very cute. br> The second part of the question is whether they are more practical than inexpensive four-legged jack stands. No, because unlike the cheaper four-legged stands, these cannot be automatically raised to meet your vehicle's height. To lower or lift your vehicle so that it works with their preset height option, you must fiddle with the pin and the jack. In addition, most stands must meet certain safety requirements, but they make no claim to having been tested.
To tell you the truth, I've never had to use a jack or a jack stand on a pinch weld point. For one thing, there's no reason to when most vehicles already have plenty of jacking and stabilizing points and are structurally sound. So, unfortunately, all I can say is that there's no reason to waste money on pinch pads if you're jacking from good points to begin with, such as the frame's naturally strong points.
I honestly don't know.

How can a jack stand possibly excite you? What makes you think you'd want to do that in the first place? These items are fantastic! BEEFY, you're a beast! Exceptionally well-designed and constructed!! I'm not sure why the locking pin design for the height adjustment isn't standard on all jack stands! They're lightweight and attractive to look at, making them ideal for lugging around the garage. With my Wera wrenches, Knipex pliers and cutters, and Milwaukee power tools, it fits in perfectly.
These are excellent Jack Stands, and the photo does not do them justice; they are light, strong, and larger than the description photo suggests. br>br>I checked quantity 2 at check out without realizing it, so I was surprised when the shipment arrived with four stands in one box. I was going to return a pair, but they were so simple to put together and the quality was so good that I decided to keep them. br>br>I knew I wanted a pin-style design instead of a ratchet, and these were perfect. I've seen several unfounded comments about these Jack Stands on various forums, most of which stated that they didn't "appear" as robust as the 4 leg ratchet style stands, but none of the commentors actually owned or touched the stand. I'm not a structural engineer, and even if I were, it would be impossible to say if these are inferior to their 4 legged counterpart without controlled testing. I do know, however, that the pin is found in virtually all extreme heavy duty jack br>br>In the customer images section of this product, I added some photos that should help you get a better idea of the true size of these Jack Stands. br>br>While I do not believe that any product is perfect, I give it 5 stars. Some reviewers take away stars for minor details, which I will not do here - Even if adding one more link to the chain for the retaining pin would help immensely in getting the pin into the highest position possible.
Overall, I like these stands; they're small and light, and they do the job they're supposed to do. I only wish the manufacturer had gone that extra mile to make the product the best it could possibly be. The jack's edges are sharp, giving it a less expensive appearance. The red coating is thin, and some parts of it were scratched right out of the box. After only a few uses, these will appear worn. The pin's lanyard is about an inch too short, making it difficult to insert and remove the pin. The instructions also fail to mention that the holes on the lanyard attachment must be aligned with the holes on the pin, or the pin will not engage (due to a lack of chain length). It is the attention to such details that distinguishes a great manufacturer from an average one. This is a good product that I would still recommend, but it isn't great.
Although the design is good, the manufacturing quality is poor. There are issues with both of my stands. br>br>Both pin chains are too short, making it impossible to insert the pins if they are twisted in any way. Is cutting the chains to the proper length difficult? br>br>The pins are also spring-loaded. The pins are supposed to stay in place when you move the stands thanks to loaded ball detents. However, both of mine have a flaw: the ball isn't properly pressed in, so it doesn't stick out far enough. That means the pins can fall out when you're moving the stands around to get them in place because they have no resistance going in and out. br>br>Overall, they don't appear to be worth the money.
These jack stands are very nice. They appear to be more durable than the budget pair I had previously. For my little convertible, these were perfect. My SUV, on the other hand, couldn't handle them because they were too short. To achieve the necessary height, I had to place some lumber beneath the jack stands. br>br>I deducted a star because the chains that hold the locking pins are too short, making it difficult to insert and remove the pin. I eventually went to a hardware store and purchased some new chain for them. Another thing I wish was that the top pad was drilled so that accessories like the blocks that go into the BMW jack pads could be used. I had to drill my own holes, which was a bit of a pain.
I did a lot of research to find a reliable jack stand, and when I came across these Torin jacks, I knew I had found it. br>br>I was astounded by the size of these jacks. The assembly is simple, with a single solid screw connecting the base to the vertical column, and the product picture does not do them justice. The pins used in these jacks are unquestionably strong. They're thick, and once the car is on top of them, they're not going anywhere. I feel a lot safer now that the lock is turned on. I don't think I'll ever go back to the ratchet system because there's no visible assurance. br>br>I didn't have any problems with the length of the chain that connects the base to the pin, allowing the pin to reach the holes. br>br>The aluminum is spotless and beautifully brushed. It's obvious that it's well-made - It appears to be a high-quality item, and I believe it is well worth the money - especially if it is for your own protection. I'll be buying two more soon to get the car off the ground completely.
I have no doubts or concerns about the equipment's dependability. I'm glad you didn't have to buy a complete set of ramps or lay plywood beneath the old angle-iron. There are no longer any jack stands made of iron!.
