I'd previously only used flimsy oil pans, so this was a huge improvement. br>br>After emptying, the cap appears to be well-sealed against minor drips. br>br>I bought two of them, one for oil and the other for coolant. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased a second copy.
Polyethylene injection molded injection molded injection molded injection molded injection molding injection molding injection molding injection molding injection molding injection Impurities in the plastic flow were introduced during the molding process, resulting in both point contamination and larger discoloration streaks. Some of the point impurities are nearly large enough to cause perforation, which would result in a leak. The last thing you want is a leak in your oil drain pan. In addition, the bottom is very thin, and I'm concerned about its durability and strength, especially when using hot oil. I don't see any holes in this unit, so I'm not going to return it. This does not strike me as a long-lasting product. I believe it is not worth the money.
I'm using it to clean parts, and I've tried a variety of automotive cleaners and degreasers with no success. I tried using laquer thinner as well, but it had no effect.
It does a good job and holds a lot of liquid. It was primarily purchased for oil changes and the ease with which oil could be drained into a 5 gallon jug. Cleaning it, especially with motor oil, is a bit of a chore due to its size. Normally, I use a cheap can of parts cleaner, but that wasn't enough with this product; if you don't mind your drain pan being spotless after each use, this is the product for you.
This is my fourth oil pan, and it is by far my favorite; I bought it after having two too many spills in my garage with pans that weren't deep enough or maneuverable enough. This enables me to capture a ton of oil and easily transport it in a container.
The pan caught every drop of oil as I slid it under the Jeep and opened the drain bolt. The included spout makes draining the oil from the pan a breeze. When cleaning the pan, the reverse lip causes a problem because it likes to keep some of the oil for itself.
I wanted a container for oil and coolant, but it's not easy to clean, so I'm only using it for oil at the moment. I don't want to mix those fluids because I recycle them, and mixing them and donating them can be hazardous. In addition, the cap screws are a little sloppy. I'd prefer it to be better, but it'll suffice. I've now purchased two, one for oil and the other for coolant.
It's made of thick material and is a nice size, with a spout I really like. I took a star off because the black piece at the spout's end was missing.
