Questions & Answers

What is the difference between a 40 and a 40P?

The HCS- The 40 is a hardwired version, with 3 feet of flexible conduit protruding from the bottom and wiring protruding another 6 inches for an electrician to use to connect the station to power. The HCS- The 40P is a plug-and-play device. in version, which comes with either a NEMA 14- or a NEMA 14-compliant NEMA 14-compliant NEMA 14-comp NEMA 6 (or 50) 50 volts, and it would be plugged into the appropriate outlet. The HCS-based HCS-based HCS-based HCS-based HCS-based For outdoor installations, the plug-in number of 40 is recommended. Only an indoor rating is available in some versions.

Is this unit capable of charging the 2017 Chevy Bolt? If so, how long does it take for the car to be fully charged?

The HCS- NEMA 14-rated at 40 psi The HCS-50 would be the first unit to provide you with the fastest charge at home for the Chevy Bolt. A maximum of 7 can be obtained by using 40P. The Bolt consumes around 7 kW, whereas the Bolt consumes around 7 kW. You're covered with a maximum charging power of 2 kW. Because the Bolt's battery pack has a capacity of 60 kWh, charging times should be between 8 and 8 minutes. From completely empty to completely full, it takes 5 hours. br>As long as you have a NEMA 14-compliant circuit breaker, you're good to go. The station is ready to charge after simply being mounted on the wall and plugged in.

Is the wire going to the car 10 or 8 awg in diameter? Oh, and if you know, how stiff is it when used in cold temperatures (below 32F)?

There are three 10-gauge wires and one 18-gauge wire inside the J1772 charging cable. Even in cold weather, the cable and jacketing are designed to be as flexible as possible. To allow for maximum flexibility, the conductors are made of thin strand copper. The cable stiffens at lower temperatures than it does at higher temperatures, but it remains flexible enough for easy use and storage throughout the product's entire temperature range (-). 22F - +120F).

Is it possible to use this for both volt and Tesla models?

The HCS-II is correct. Both the Chevy Volt and the Tesla Model S are compatible with the 40P. When using the HCS- The Chevy Volt would be charged at 40P as quickly as it could be charged, which is about 4 - 5 minutes. From empty to full, it takes 5 hours. Because the Tesla Model S uses its own proprietary connector, you'll need to use the adapter provided by Tesla to plug into the vehicle. When using the HCS- The Tesla 40P would not be charged as quickly as it could be because these vehicles can only accept 40A or 80A for charging, but you would still get about 25 miles of range per hour of charging.

This charger is very sturdy
4/5

I've had the charger for about a month and, as other reviews have stated, it's a serious piece of equipment. It's a lot bigger than the 110v EV that comes standard with many cars, and it's not exactly portable. Sure, you can take it with you if you want to fill your trunk or frunk to the brim, but I think it's better to leave it in place permanently. Despite its light weight, the unit has a solid feel to it. The charging and plug cables are both thick and flexible at the same time. The charging adapter (the plug that goes into your car) feels a little cheap and isn't the white one that they show on their website; hopefully this isn't a big deal, but I wanted to mention it. While I would prefer a slightly larger cable on the plug end to allow for a better fit, I understand that this is not possible due to regulations. Yes, it creates a semi-invisible barrier between you and the rest of the world. As other reviews have mentioned, it makes a loud thunk when you plug it in, but so have other Level 2 chargers that I've used. br>br>I'm giving it four stars primarily because of the price compared to the features it provides. This is a straightforward charger with no delay options or WiFi connectivity. You simply plug it into your car to charge it and then unplug it when you're finished. I charge my car at night during Off Peak hours to save money on electricity, so the lack of these features isn't an issue for me. However, at just over $600 (including shipping), it appears to be a little pricey for what you get. Some people may have issues with this, while others do not. Personally, I don't mind paying a little more for a quality product made in the United States with excellent customer service and a solid warranty. br>br>After comparing a few chargers, I settled on this one, the Chargepoint 32A charger, and the Juicebox Pro 40A charger. I liked the Chargepoint's ability to swap the charging cord, as well as its wifi connectivity and the Chargepoint app, because I use them frequently. The Juicebox appealed to me because of its affordability and features. In the end, the Chargepoint didn't work because I didn't want to change out my outlet and breakers (they say it can only be on a 40A circuit, but I had 50A), and the Juicebox, while offering more features for the price and a higher charging capacity, seemed like a big risk because I called the company three times and never got through to anyone. Customer service is fantastic *sarcasm*, and I can only imagine how difficult it would be to deal with a warranty claim. When you call Clipper Creek, you will be connected to a live person right away! So, in the end, I went with the Clipper Creek, and I'm very pleased with it. I hope this trend continues for a long time!.

Excellent Quality at a Reasonable Price
5/5

I spent three weeks researching Level 2 charger EVSEs for our LEAF and decided on the ClipperCreek for several reasons: ClipperCreek has a proven track record. They have a long history of producing EVSE equipment with a proven track record. br>2 ClipperCreek products meet not only SAE 1772 and UL Listed requirements, but also NEC 625. After conducting my research, I would never plug an EVSE into my LEAF without first verifying that it complied with the NEC 625 standard. br>3 It is U. S. law. Before leaving the factory, it is handcrafted in California and triple-tested. It isn't made in some far-flung corner of the globe. br>4 A 3-year warranty is included as standard. No, this isn't a flashy EVSE with a retractable cord (which isn't a problem) or a wifi-enabled, LED-clad fashion statement. It's a straightforward, high-quality EVSE with documentation to back it up. br>The LEAF communicates flawlessly with it, as does the LEAF charging timer. (NEC 625 Compatible)br>The unit has no buttons, which is convenient; simply plug it in and go about your business. This EVSE is extremely portable, lightweight, and durable, and it easily fits behind the driver's seat, on the floor, or in the trunk. NEMA 14 is a standard for electrical equipment. Fairgrounds and campgrounds can be used as charging stations with a 50-volt plug. My only minor criticism is that the wall plug is extremely short; however, if you find yourself in a tight spot while mounting it, you can replace it with a longer cord. For a two-car garage, the 25-foot charging cable is sufficient. However, the short length is useful in the aforementioned locations as well as for transporting it in the car. Overall, this is the most cost-effective EVSE available. I'm blown away.

Well- Basic EVSE with a Real Printed Manual was built
5/5

Clipper Creek's on-demand service drew me in to this product. The fact that it's made in the United States, as well as the fact that the company's Web site shows a female electrician installing one of the units, all contribute to the product's positive reputation for customer service. (I have nothing against men or male electricians; I simply thought the photograph demonstrated a forward-thinking attitude. ) I went with a plug-in option. I was in the unit, and there was an electrician there (male - Install an outlet in my garage (that's all I could find). The unit was delivered ahead of schedule. It was a good idea. The product was well-packaged, included all necessary hardware, and included a printed manual with mounting instructions. Because the unit is relatively light, positioning it was not difficult. I was able to easily mount it myself, and it functions flawlessly. It lacks "smart" features such as WiFi and a phone app, but the car does, allowing me to monitor charging status. Isn't life already difficult enough? Because the power cable for the wall outlet comes out the bottom and is large and stiff, you won't have much flexibility in terms of distance or lateral spacing from the outlet when positioning the unit. If in doubt, wait until you receive the unit and you or your electrician can confirm where the outlet should be installed before having it installed. My outlet is about a knee-high distance from my house. high. Look at the image.
