Questions & Answers

Is it compatible with Hondas from the 1990s?

Yes, it'll work on any toothed flywheel.

On a Briggs and Stratton 25hp v-twin engine, I need to keep the flywheel from turning. Is this tool going to be useful, twin? The factory flathead tool isn't going to cut it. ?

Thank you for getting back to me. I'm taking apart the motor to replace the armature beneath the flywheel. Imagine my surprise when the factory manual stated that I should use Briggs tool 19321, which I already had. With the help of an air impact wrench and an old Proto puller, I was able to remove the flywheel. The retaining nut must be torqued to 150 ft when the flywheel is reinstalled. lbs. Which I won't be able to do unless I can stop the flywheel from spinning. Thank you once more for your response.

I'm curious about the manufacturing location of this tool. ?

There is no country of manufacture listed on the package, as far as I can tell. This isn't a flimsy item; it's a sturdy piece, which is why I purchased it. On Lisle's website, I discovered the following: "The specialty automotive tool line now includes over 400 items, the vast majority of which are manufactured at the expanded site of the original factory in Clarinda, Iowa, which opened in 1903."

When using this tool, has anyone noticed any "slippage" or "not fully engaging teeth"?

It engaged the flywheel well with no slippage, and I was able to remove the 15/16' lock nut on a 75hp mercury outboard. The nut on the flywheel must be torqued to 100 ft/lb when it is reinstalled. This was made possible by the tool's size and power. the bottom line It was a good investment.

It's not a good idea to stand in the plane of torque
4/5

Great tool with a solid build that adjusts to all common flywheel sizes. Because it's spring-loaded, stand opposite the engine side or to the side when applying force to the tool. I learned this the hard way when I needed to apply some extra grunt and the tip slipped and smacked me in the face. Because it's spring-loaded, the weight I already had into it was augmented by that fact, and it smacked me like a particularly angry metal viper. I had to take off about two days of work to recover.

This is a good tool for turning the engine by the flywheel
5/5

When I needed to replace the transmission (automatic) in my small block Chevy, I bought this. The tool appears to be well-made, has a solid feel to it, and is simple to operate. Because it grabs the ring gear, it requires vertical access to the flywheel to function. Automatic transmission bell housings typically have an inspection plate that allows easy access to the ring gear, but many manual transmission bell housings (such as a muncie) still have the ring gear blocked when the inspection cover is removed, so this tool would not work in those cases.

There will be no blunders
5/5

It is simple to use. I own a Mazda B-Series from 2002. The Ford Ranger 3000 is a vehicle that was introduced in the year 2000. The slave cylinder of the clutch had started to leak. Because I had to pull the trans to replace it, I figured I'd as well replace the clutch and flywheel. It was necessary to hold the flywheel in place while loosening and torqueing the flywheel and clutch pressure plate bolts. In addition, I decided to replace the leaking timing chain cover. The harmonic balancer had to be pulled in order to do this. I had complete access to the flywheel because the transmission was removed. To keep the Flywheel Turner from moving, I simply connected it to the truck's frame and let the handle rest on it. It was a huge success. Other flywheel turners had slipped, according to the reviews I read. Even when I re-read it, I couldn't find any errors. Took the hamonic balancer bolt and torqued it to 107 ft-lbs. lbs. I didn't even come close to touching the flywheel turner - It simply grabbed as soon as the flywheel began to spin. Lisle tools are among my favorites. You can tell the tool is well made just by looking at it. I always buy them if I have the option, and I have never been disappointed. They're always well-made and function properly!.

The "flywheel turner" is available in a variety of brands and models
5/5

The "flywheel turner" comes in a variety of brands and versions, all of which perform the same function but are built differently. After reviewing the majority of the options, I decided that this one would be the most reliable. I believe I was correct when I received it. The tool is well-made and well-suited for its intended purpose. It was used to keep the flywheel in place while the balancer bolt was torqued. Everything worked perfectly and should last a very long time; buy it if you need it!.

While working on the clutch and pressure plate, I was able to turn the flywheel
5/5

This was installed on a manual transmission 1961 Chevrolet 283 engine. To find and fix a problem, we had to remove the transmission. It worked well to rotate the flywheel so that I could remove, inspect, clean, and reinstall the assembly before torqueing it. It's a lot easier and faster than trying to use a big screwdriver. The first time I got it to bite, it was a little difficult.

I bought this tool because it was similar to what I used when I was doing a lot of transmission work back in the 1980's, and Lisle is a brand that I've always been familiar with, so it was a no-brainer purchase
5/5

Because I'm using a billet aftermarket timing pointer, I wanted to double-check TDC on a high-compression big block Chevy I recently built. The tool performs as well as any I've used before, and I didn't break it, so that's a plus. So, if you need to rotate an engine in a car, I would recommend this tool. Just a word of caution: make sure the tool's teeth are fully engaged, or you'll end up with a couple of skinned knuckles. If you're rotating a large displacement/high compression engine, don't forget to remove the spark plugs. Update; br>br> I loaned this tool to someone, and we misplaced it between the two of us, so I bought it again, and the first tool was found shortly after. br>br>It's a new one for me, and it's the first one for the borrower.

It has a few flaws
4/5

Without this tool, I would not have been able to finish the job, but it did not fit well in any of the positions where the flywheel needed to be held. br>br>At the end of the day, I'd buy it again. The task was completed without causing any damage to the vehicle or tool. It made my job a lot easier. It appears to be well-made and will last a long time; I'm sure it will work fine on other vehicles, just not the one I worked on over the weekend.

This is an outstanding tool
5/5

It served as a flexplate holder for me. This is an outstanding tool. br>br>I used it to hold a flexplate in place while tightening a crankshaft bolt in the car while the engine was still running. I put the car on a jackstand on one side and placed this tool on the flexplate with the handle facing down towards the concrete. The tool stayed in place and braced against the garage floor while I torqued the crankshaft bolt to 165 FT LBS. br>br>There was no damage to the tool. With this, there'll be no more squeezing items through flexplate holes. If you work on bigger engines, this is a must-have.
