It did a good job of removing the flywheel from my Mercury 90hp inline engine. I did use a Dewalt cordless impact driver, which some people advise against, but I only used it in short "bursts. " There were no issues with the process, which was very quick. Because there are no instructions included in the package, I recommend that a buyer who has little repair experience watch videos on flywheel removal. The product is of excellent quality.
It just popped off. The puller's drive bolt is the same size as the flywheel retainer, so no additional socket was required. It was an excellent solution. It's necessary to pull a Mercedes flywheel.
It did a great job of removing the flywheel from my 1985 Mercury inline 4 with 75 horsepower. It's well worth the money, and it's a lot less expensive than the local merc dealer's puller.
It's a well-made product that performs admirably. I had to tap my flywheel with a mallet a couple of times before the puller finally freed it. According to what I've learned, this is the only way to remove a Mercury flywheel correctly.
The flywheel fit and pulled without a hitch on my 1997 40hp Mercedes-Benz, and it was the only way to pull it.
Fortunately, I didn't need it as a stator (I purchased a new one). It was not defective, so I returned it, but I'm keeping it in case I need it again. It appears to be of good quality, and it should function as expected.
What can I say, it's a simple tool that does exactly what it should. It threaded easily onto my motor, and the fine thread pitch on the bolt ensures that it performs as well as the factory tool at a fraction of the price, so I'll buy another when I lose this one. Ha ha.
My 1984 Maniner 50hp 2 stroke outboard had no problems with it.
