Straightening clamp dents is not likely to stretch pipe for slip joints, but may be able to straighten clamp dents. While I knew it wasn't supposed to be used for that, I decided to try it since it was so inexpensive. There was a crack in two of the expanding pieces around the turning point. It is impossible to imagine that it could remove dents and the like, but it could possibly do so.
This metal will handle the load if you find an item that is similar and black in color. I got one from an auto parts store. If the silver color indicates cheap materials, they are not rated to handle the load of the job for which they were designed.
Tool that is simple and effective. This tool was used to spread the frame rails on a 32 Ford. It's simple to use for folks like myself with simple minds.
