I have five automobiles, some of which are brand new and others which are a little older. In the past, I've had professional mechanics test the batteries. Of course, they used cutting-edge technology and top-of-the-line equipment. I was curious if I could conduct similar tests at home. I used the internet to conduct my research. I watched several videos on YouTube and read reviews on Amazon about various battery testers, and one video showing a mechanic using the Topdon ArtiBattery 101 particularly impressed me. This product has a lot of positive reviews on Amazon. It received a score of four. 8 rating with 91% five stars out of ten possible out of ten possible out of There were no one-star or two-star ratings. I was blown away by it. I ordered one for myself and one for my son based on the positive reviews. It was going to be a Christmas present for my son. A 2007 Z06 Corvette with a one-year-old battery was recently purchased by me. I wanted to check the battery's condition because the car was brand new to me. I bought the Schumacher 100 amp Load Tester and Voltmeter Battery Tester, as well as the Dewalt 30 A Bench Battery Charger, within the last year. Super Start Extreme BCI 90 with 600 cca is the battery I'm using. The Dewalt told me that the battery needed to be charged, so I did. I reconditioned the battery after charging it for 24 hours. After that, I used my Topdon to test the battery four times. All of this was completed in a matter of minutes. The State of Health changed every time from 33% to 39% to 30% to 40%. I get two different readings when I use the same product. Which is correct? Based on one, I would consider recharging the battery, despite the fact that it had been charged the day before the test, and based on the other, I would consider purchasing a new battery. I'm taking the car to my mechanic now to have the battery tested. I'll make a change to this information once it's completed. I'll be returning the Topdons to Amazon in the meantime. I simply do not believe they are trustworthy. Topdon, I apologize for the one-star rating, but I am unable to recommend your product.

A battery tester that is simple to use and accurate

I purchased this to test the battery and charging system in my Honda because it appeared that the battery was not holding a charge. The battery died on the day this item was delivered, to be sure. The dead batter was tested and found to be defective. When I picked up the replacement from the store, I put it to the test and it passed. br>br>Installed a new battery in the vehicle and used the TT TOPDON AB101 to perform a crank and load test. The charging system is working as intended by the tool, and I haven't had any further issues with my new battery since then. This is a useful tool. Our newer Subaru's battery was also tested and found to be in good working order.

There are a few tools that RV and boat owners should have. A battery analyzer that can also perform Cranking System, Charging System, and Battery Load tests, as well as serve as a battery charger that can remove sulfate from the plates. The Topdon AB 101 is what I'm referring to. For regular 12v and 6v deep cycle lead-acid batteries, the CTEC Multi US 7002 is a smart battery charger. Trojan 105s are a good example of a lead-acid battery.

Check out the most recent revision. I have a carbon pile load tester as well as a high-resolution camera. end Fluke DVOM, but only to check batteries, starting, and charging systems, but I'm a tool nut who is always looking for an excuse to buy a new tool. Before placing this order, I did a lot of research. I haven't tested it on a battery in a vehicle yet, but I will as soon as the thick ice covering everything, including the hoods of my truck and SUV, melts, and I'll update this review if I find any issues with it. But I just took it down to my basement to test my motorcycle battery, which I keep inside during the winter, and I was blown away by this little tester. To begin with, it read nearly identical voltage to my expensive Fluke meter. Then I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and simple this tester is to use. It only has four buttons, and even if someone had never used it before, they would almost certainly be able to operate it without having to read the manual. It's so simple and intuitive that I wouldn't have to go over the instructions even if I hadn't used it in a year or more. Simply connect it to the battery and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the tests. This is the kind of straightforwardness I wish more devices possessed. I wish my TV remotes were as simple as this! The screen is backlit, perfectly clear, and easy to read, and it prompts you to enter required information via a simple drop-down menu. menu at the bottom It doesn't get any easier or quicker than this. The examiner appears to be in good shape. Unlike some I've seen that are made of brittle, easily cracked plastic, this one is well-made and solid. Backlit, clear, and easy to read, the screen is an excellent choice. I'm very pleased with it, but as I previously stated, if I find any problems with it while conducting tests with a battery installed in a vehicle, including starting and charging system tests, I'll update this review. If there aren't any issues, then go ahead and do it. I'll just leave it as is because I don't think there will be any. BTW, there are plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating how to use this tester, so if you haven't already, watch them and see for yourself how simple it is. br>br>Another nice feature of this tester is that it comes in a bubble pack that doesn't require cutting or otherwise difficult opening. This one is made up of two parts that can be easily separated, making it an excellent tester storage container. It keeps everything tidy and protected from scratches. You can get a plastic box for the tester if you want, but it's not necessary. br>br>10th UPDATED 19br>Well, after my initial enthusiasm for this tester, I'm not so sure about it anymore. When I'm not riding, I use an Optimate 6 to charge my motorcycle battery. The battery is four years old, which is about the average lifespan of a motorcycle battery, and the Optimate recently returned a result indicating that the battery was in poor condition, so I decided to replace it. I placed an order for a new battery and had it installed today. But first, I charged both batteries last night and set them aside for a few hours before putting them to the test. When I tested the old battery while it was still in the bike, the tester said it had a very poor state of health (6%) and a high resistance and low amps. The battery needed to be replaced, according to the instructions. I removed it from the bike and put it on the bench to test it alongside the new battery. The old battery's results were nearly identical to those obtained when it was first installed. The new battery performed admirably, though the amperage was slightly lower than the manufacturer's specification, which is to be expected. I installed the new battery and then tested it to see if I'd get consistent results so I could use this tester to rely on installed readings. The battery was now listed as being defective - Even worse than the old battery, it needed to be replaced (though I was confident that the battery was in good working order). I assumed the strange result was due to the heavy wires I have permanently connected to the battery for testing and jumping if necessary without removing the bike's seat. Then, just for fun, I re-did it. I tested the old battery again while on the bench and this time it said the SOH was 100% (compared to the 6% readings I got before when both installed and on the bench%) ) It also claimed to have 50 amps more than the battery's rated capacity when new from the factory, and that the resistance was lower than the new battery's when tested on the bench. The results are out of this world, and I can no longer trust this tester. For me, the tester is nearly useless if I don't get consistent results. I know I should have reduced my rating to one star, but I went from five to three. br>br>I should also mention that I tested a premium, high-end, high-end product that was almost new (a few months old). While installed in my truck and SUV, I used high-quality batteries. They both needed to be replaced, according to the tester! br>br>On the plus side, the voltage readings from the tester were identical to the readings from my high-tech multimeter. Fluke meter has reached the end of its lifespan.
