One pretty much like this once belonged to me, but I have since lost Using these is a great way to test just about any type of ignition. I, however, find this one to be a waste of time. When I used it for the first time, I had to put it back together twice. I was unable to find the spring the third time it fell apart, so I threw it away in the garbage.

There is a limit to the I have purchased a few of these but dislike that if you open the clamp more than 3/8" to 1/2" it will fall apart because the 2 vet small tabs lock in the clips at one end, then you have to move them to get the spring to hold back

Depending on whether it is clamped to a thin metal fin or a shroud on the motor you should be ok. I really like the adjustable spark gap so you can verify the voltage that the spark plug receives from the engine.

It is recommended that you use an ignition tester

It is used for the "Cranks, No Start" GM4. A blazer with three chest pockets. Wires to the coil and spark plug do not need troubleshooting. The software works perfectly.

That this item won't fit on an outboard is a bit disappointing for me

This item cannot be installed on an outboard spark plug connector that accepts the small pin, which is a bit disappointing to me. A power adapter will most likely be necessary.
