Let us have metal versions of these for the love of God. As far as I can tell, there are no similar brake lining gauge sets available for purchase on Amazon or elsewhere in metal rather than bought my first one in August of this year, and it has already been paid The corners are bending and snapping off, and the tips are no longer sharp. I think these are fine. I bought these for my son to check remaining brake pad life. It's hard to see the brake lining with them since they are difficult to find on most vehicles. I'd say there is a limited utility to them. The tool I have is not quite as useful to me as just watching for worn brake pads with my eyes, but it's nice to have one more assistant.
