If you'd like to wet sand it first, you should try it on a less obvious spot. This product gives me a shine but not a high gloss, which I need for wood projects. It is estimated that there are 3000 of them. In a case where you were doing paint as a normal gloss coat, sand it once more. You will get a deeper shine every time you polish. It might seem like a lot of work, but you get what you pay for.

It smooths and polishes antiques the best, which is why I use it for restoration. The rust can then be removed and the surface smoothed with this 2000 grit sandpaper before polishing, after I remove the lip from a broken screw with a rubber mandrel in my Dremel. The work I do allows me to produce professional results. I restore Edison, Victor, and other record sound boxes for wind up record players cylinder and disc. Having used this for over ten years, I am delighted with its performance. Using this on Columbia aluminum reproducers allows me to eliminate or reduce damaged areas so they appear like new. I find it to be extremely useful.

The paper works well but is still not the best sandpaper I've My experience with this product is that it has a slower cut and breaks down faster than most from Meguiar's.
