This is the first item I have purchased from Eastwood. I chose to spend the money on these over so many others because of Eastwood's reputable high quality products. I must say, the blow mold case came in a damaged state from the inside out. It was packaged well, so it is just a I don't know if this is the result of the damage or just how the case is, but there are large holes in it, pieces of plastic everywhere, and when trying to close it, it leaves a gap.
Second of all, there were flakes of blue paint all over the construction site. The blue is chipping off all the hammers. The third problem is that the clear coat or whatever is used over the dollies to smooth them out is peeling off of them and they have all kinds of uneven smudges and gouges across Many people have told me that I should just spend the money on Eastwood and I do and the entire set is just budget-made. This name carries a high reputation, so I am expecting much better quality from this brand. But now I know to expect cheap products from Eastwood, so maybe I won't be surprised when I buy it. Despite the fact that I received great service for much less, I'm sure you could do better. As much as the job is going to be done, I think they will all get it done I hope. I just hoped for.
Automotive technicians know that tools need to hold up and last. As you can see in the photo, this product does not hold up to any type of impact. Other customers have reported the same problem and had to replace the damaged body work on top of what they had already done. Since the beginning, Eastwood has had a great reputation until the metal and steel business took over. The metal on both the hand dollies that came with it and my hammers should be classed as grade 0 since all of the metal chips off. SNAP ON, MATCO, MAC, or any other manufacturer that carries the reputation of high steel quality in their product line will stand out if you are serious about your automotive trade and want good body hammers that will last you a lifetime rather than one or two days. Although it might cost a couple extra bucks, would you rather buy the same item over and over again, or would you rather buy one set that will last for at least 10.
This is a good set at a good price. Inspecting the hammer faces, you will see they have a few slight imperfections that will "transfer" to the finished piece. It was easy for me to fix the problem by polishing the faces.
While I am happy with the gifts I received, I am unhappy that the hammer was not included. I got 6 of the 7 pieces, but they weren't all there. The original packaging was still in place and the packages were unopened. The fact that you order something but do not get everything, and then you have to go back and correct it, is a disappointment, so that I'd just as well order something else from someone else so I don't have to deal with that again.
I highly recommend this product for use on metal works. It does a great job!.
