Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for copper pipe as well?

The copper pipes that carry water under pressure are not clear to me. When it comes to small cracks or holes, I would recommend trying "JB Water Weld". The stuff worked well for sealing a coolant freeze plug leak in my car once, as well as the holes in the bottom of a gas tank after gas had been added while the tank was still full of gas. The stuff is really tricky, especially if the surface is smooth. The product is not intended as a patch, but as a plug in the hole, so you must work just a little bit into the crack or hole, roughen up the area around it well, and then press it into the crack or hole. I wish you the best of

It seems that the exhaust seals on my 94 Astro have been disintegrating. (3) shops have tried to remove the bolts for replacement and were unable to do so. If you have time, can I squeeze this in?

Certainly, you can do it, but the putty will crack and fall out with the vibration of the exhaust. If you want to keep it intact for a while after working the putty in and letting it dry, try wrapping it with some sort of high heat exhaust bandage. I wish you the best of

Have you thought about the consistency of your While working with it, did you make a mistake?

You apply it like a paste, and you have about half an hour to work it into cracks and joints before it starts drying. Within 20 to 30 days, the wound is fully healed You have 24 hours to do it.

What if I put this on the muffler of my riding mower? An attachment vibration caused it to fall off and leave two holes where it was Are small holes going to be filled by this?

That is not the case. Your mower will blow out its plugs again when it starts up for the first time. The muffler might hold itself together better if you wrap it with metallic material (a tin can or light sheeting). From there, you can hose clamp it and then seal it with this metal. When held properly by mechanical means, nuts and bolts, it is perfect for exhaust connections and joints.

It is helpful to use a heat gun
4/5

The b pipe flange (or whatever pipe is after the catalytic converter) developed a hole due to rust between the catalytic converter flange and the b pipe flange. Due to this, I cannot use any tape or wrap. Despite how much noise it reduced, this stuff was not perfect. It has a toothpaste-like consistency when you put it on. I cleaned the area as much as I could, put it on with a plastic knife and wore gloves as carefully as I could. I then started the car and the pressure from the exhaust shot the heat It seems impossible that you would be able to cure this stuff with heat when the source of the heat exerts positive pressure as well? Thus, I put it back and grabbed a heat gun in order to fix it. Then pointing it at it, place it on high. A little after 7 minutes It's curing when it starts expanding. At this stage you can tell that it's cured. A portion of the skin had become firm after I touched it in the side. Generally, it works this way, but it does take a lot of heat. So I waited until most of it expanded and started the engine to let it cure.

So it seems to work this way, but it takes a lot.

JB Weld is not as good
5/5

So far, it seems to be working properly. On this large opening on the muffler, I used one out of two packets. Wearing gloves allowed you to use your fingers. You will get a cruel look from a putty knife. We followed the instructions on idling our car for 10 minutes after applying the product. Rather than blowing it all out, it found/made some holes to let some air in. A hardening process seems to take place quickly.
If I were you, I would delay idling the car long enough to create enough hardening to prevent air leaks. However, I will apply a second packet in the future to fix those issues.

Great! It works like a charm! Make sure you have gloves on
5/5

In my grandmother's Nissan Frontier, I used this to seal the edge of the exhaust system. I had never done this before, so it was a first for me and I wasn't sure if it worked. The putty tube had directions on how to apply it, but I didn't have any gloves, so I applied it bare-handed. In any case. After cleaning the area with brake cleaner, I used it to smear it over the area beautifully and cleanly. The putty was applied, but the car was not started until the following morning after it had been left to dry overnight. I was satisfied with the consistency and performance of the putty, and it is still holding up after two I find it difficult to remove if I allow it to dry on my hands, though it comes off if I wipe it clean quickly before it dries. I would recommend using disposable gloves next time.

It appears that the patches are holding up quite This was used to patch two holes about the size of a dime Mufflers have two flanges of one inch each on the tailpipe end
5/5

Seeing as the putty is paste-like when first applied, I felt it necessary to cover the holes with 1/4" wire mesh to provide a surface for the putty to adhere to. I applied the muffler, I ran the engine for about 5 minutes to get the muffler warmed up. There is a possibility that some of the putty might get pushed out, as described by the other reviewers. As a result, I let it cure overnight after I pushed the putty back in place and added the remainder of the pouch to the patched areas. It seems like the patches are holding up well after driving for about 300 miles.

So far it seems to work fine
5/5

So far, it seems to be holding up. A part of my egr tube on my car broke, so instead of replacing it I tested this. It was cleaned up with a wire wheel on a rotational tool, followed by a piece of mechanics' wire to tie the two parts My next step was to mounded the material around the joint before starting the car for 24 hours to dry. I can make it into a mold easily because the consistency is similar to peanut butter. We've been on the road about 100 miles and there are no leaks yet.

It is true that products are not without A metal screen was added to the muffler as a result of patching a significant slice
3/5

I was pleased with my appearance following that. The brimming enthusiasm of a young man. Before and after pictures can be seen here. As a result of a few heat cycles, some patch material became brittle and, over time, fell The hole returned as a much smaller one. It was clear that failure was imminent from the other cracks. The exhaust system on my car has been replaced.

22 months after being applied to the cat converter, the application is still holding
5/5

In the cat converter, there was a small leak. After three months, the mechanic patch is worse than it was. After I applied this putty to the hole and covered it with a small piece of wire screen, I followed all the rules in order for it to cure. My cat converter was damaged after 22 months. This product saved me from having to replace it! The exhaust system lasted longer thanks to this. I would definitely recommend it.

When you have a small hole or crack, this is good, but if you have a larger one this isn't the best choice
4/5

You could instead use a clamp or perhaps even a metal wire mesh to reinforce a larger crack or hole. This is good for small holes and cracks but if you have a larger crack or hole, you might want to use a clamp in conjunction with it. If there are vibrations in that area It is impossible for this product to hold on its own if there is a crack across the cross-section rather than along the length. The texture of the product makes it similar to a normal metal filler, as well as the hardening characteristics. As a result, it does not provide any Both the bond (silicone) and the hardened material are not as strong as a metal weld, and the hardened putty will just separate over time.
