That would be the case if it were a pill-shaped reservoir. There is exactly the same area behind the right front bumper as stock. The one we have is a 92 XJ.

The defrosting change of my 95 Jeep Cherokee has never bothered me until the frigid weather this past winter when it was so cold. I've had it for two years now, and my car has never let me down. Upon learning that my reservoir was missing (I wondered why my vacuum line went nowhere), the vacuum line goes to the surface. I had to modify it to make it fit because I no longer have the stock bumper (where it was supposed to fit), but I did it. It then worked perfectly once it was connected to the computer.
There is nothing fancy or complicated about this, it is only a vacuum reservoir. The capacity of the vacuum reservoir is at least double that of typical spherical vacuum reservoirs, and the cost is about the same.
There are some differences for an '01, but it works all right.
The brackets had to be trimmed somewhat to fit the 2000 Jeep XJ Cherokee sport, but once he did that it works fine and fits nicely.
