Questions & Answers

Anyone else having trouble getting a reading with the high side 134a adapter not depressing the Schrader valve?

To make this kit work, I had to order a FJC 6015 R134A Refrigerant Tank Adapter because the one that came with it was incorrect.

Is there a connection for quick release on cars, and can I use it with freon cans?

There are couplings to help with the charging process, without a doubt. Yes, it can be charged from cans if you have access to the can tap valve.

Are your hose fittings (connections) in need of rethreading?

No, if you're using 410 cans, you don't need a connector, but if you're using 134A cans, you'll need to make your own or purchase a 134A hose.

Is it degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit?

Both

It appears to be a good idea until you try to put it to use
3/5

It's a fantastic feature set. It's convenient to have a separate vacuum and charging line. The dials appear to be in good working order. br>br>The hoses are a waste of time. Every slight movement of the manifold caused a fitting to loosen and a seal to be lost. br>br>I'm going to buy a new manifold and keep using my old Harbor Freight one for the time being, because this one is basically junk unless you're willing to babysit it constantly. I was able to recover the refrigerant from a vehicle I was working on with it, but I can see how it will be nothing but a headache in the long run. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> After an unsuccessful attempt to recover refrigerant from my Jeep, this manifold has now told on itself. I couldn't get a full vacuum while I was recovering the system. I had already replaced all of the hose seals with softer Yellow Jacket ones and applied vacuum grease to everything at this point. The sight glass actually leaks, preventing the system from being fully dragged down. My purge cylinder was also contaminated with air as a result of it. It's a waste of time. The flimsy plastic knobs also came loose.

So far, everything has gone well, except for one strange snag
4/5

There are no leaks in the hoses and manifold, which appear to be of good quality. So far, the only issue I've had is that the quick-response menu isn't very user-friendly. The high/low connection connectors are labeled incorrectly! They are both marked in the same way as the end that connects to the manifold, with clockwise for close and counter-clockwise for far. To open, turn the knob clockwise. After being perplexed, I came across a couple of videos of people turning their quick connectors clockwise to open them. That, indeed, works, and having the valves open is far more productive than having them closed. Maybe everyone 'knows,' but this was my first time dealing with air conditioning, hoses, a manifold, and these quick connectors. I'm not sure what I'll do, but I'm thinking of making a dummy label with a sharpie for future reference. Anyway, I'm satisfied with the overall quality because the three hoses I used (red, blue, and yellow) all hold a vacuum, which was exactly what I needed to pressure test an AC repair.

A better set would be my recommendation
3/5

I'm an ASE certified professional mechanic who bought these expecting a few months of moderate service before upgrading to a better set. However, after servicing five vehicles, the low side 134a quick coupler has already failed, rendering the set useless because the internal seals have failed and the set will no longer hold vacuum. The hoses are also of poor quality, and the seals at the ends of the hoses are constantly failing. Overall, I would only recommend purchasing if you only intend to use it once or twice; learn from my mistakes and invest in name brand tools for professional service.

My new R410A gauges look like this
3/5

Everything I could possibly want or need to work with R410A, R134a, or R22 was included in these. I was military trained in AC and R, and you don't mix gasses and gauges when it's Uncle Sam's equipment, so there's one set for each gas; these are the ones I'll use on my home Central Air system. At this price, I can afford to have one set dedicated solely to my home's air conditioning system and another set for my vehicles. They did the job, but I can't vouch for accuracy; I checked the temperature on both sides of the system, and the gauges were correct, so I assume I won't have to repeat the process next time; however, as with all measuring devices, you should always verify before trusting.

The second was a step up
3/5

The first set I got didn't have a vacuum in the manifold alone. In other words, the vacuum lasted only 15 minutes when the hoses were only connected to the manifold and a vacuum was pulled. Additionally, the hoses are self-contained. The connections to the manifold became loosened while testing or filling a system, causing the system to leak. The leaking was stopped by tightening the connectors. for about 15 minutes I exchanged the set for a new one. br>br> A replacement set arrived two days later, much to the manufacturer's credit. A vacuum is held in the new manifold. I'll update the review and rating once I've connected the hoses to a system to see if they self-clean. loosen.

Hoses are ineffective when it comes to heating and cooling systems
3/5

My main issue with these gauges is that there is no place to hook the other end of the hoses, which means that the hoses that aren't in use have to hang in the dirt, and they have plastic O-rings. Rubber ring gaskets are required for leaky ring gaskets. The plastic O-rings are also a factor. The hoses don't even stay tight with ring gaskets; in HVAC, the hoses must be tight or the system is useless. I haven't tried using the manifold in the field yet, but it appears to be halfway descent. I would return these for a refund if I didn't require gauges for my bed.

This is a good unit if you keep your expectations in check
4/5

It isn't very good. It is of poor quality. It is effective. After double-checking the fittings, it does not leak. If you only use it once in a while, this model will probably suffice; however, if you are a professional, I would not even consider it. The case is practically useless because the hoses must be completely removed, and even then it is difficult to reassemble everything and close the lid. However, it provides a lot of value for the money. Because of the poor quality, I deducted a star. The knobs, for example, are so cheaply made that they will eventually crack. I believe they could improve the quality of a few items while also increasing the price by $5-$10 per item. 10 out of ten, and you've got a fantastic unit on your hands. Overall, I am not dissatisfied; rather, I am underwhelmed. Even so, it's still a good deal.

It's time to say goodbye to the cheap plastic control knobs
3/5

It's time to get rid of those cheap plastic knobs. This set, like the one I'm replacing, has cracking and breaking plastic knobs. The case is also not molded to fit the ports, putting even more strain on the knobs, which are already weak.
