I find this to be an excellent product for the price. A new order has been placed. It must be a Newby review that said to fill camper with charcoal. The initial release of carbon by all filters, including household ones, is normal.

In the past few years, I have used Camco and now they have We have received black soot every time we hook up this filter for a few seconds, which is, I assume, due to it working. It happened on the first use and never happened again with the Camco.

I used it for 10 days and maybe 300 gallons of water, and then the odor returned. The time it claimed to be good for is not even close to three months. According to my understanding, it will depend on how much you use, but probably.
