Questions & Answers

Do the fog lights have to be turned off all of the time?

Yes, the hitch will not work with the factory fog lights.

What is the exact thickness of the steel used in the construction of this hitch mount?

I didn't measure it with a micrometer, but it looks like it's 1/8". It's not the most durable steel, but it'll suffice for a bike rack, hitch carrier, winching, or towing small trailers. I wouldn't put more than 1500 pounds of tongue weight on it, but it should be able to handle normal winching up to the truck's weight. However, I would not snare this.

Is it possible to combine the two?

What are you going to do with it? Behind the bumper, the receiver is positioned. Tow hooks are cutouts, and the factory fog lights can be installed.

Is this going to work on a 2005 Ford F-150?

Unless the f150's bumper has tow eyes, it's unlikely.

I pity the delivery driver who was forced to deliver this
4/5

I felt sorry for the delivery driver who had to make this delivery. It's quite substantial. The construction quality appears to be excellent, and you will not be disappointed. br>br>I put it on a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck. 350 A 5/8" drill bit (a step bit works well here) is required for installation, as are 3/4", 15mm, and 18mm sockets. To drill a pilot hole, I'd also suggest using a hole punch and a small drill bit. If you have an impact wrench, it will be extremely helpful; otherwise, you will most likely require a 2-inch socket. 3' breaker bar to loosen the bumper and tow hook bolts, which were probably never removed before. To break the bolts free on the tow hooks, I had to use Kroil in conjunction with a large 3/4" impact wrench, so have some Kroil or other penetrating oil on hand and squirt the bolts an hour or two before you start. br>br>Instructions were included, and once you get started, they're pretty straightforward. The back bumper brackets do require four holes to be drilled, after which they can be reassembled. Consider how you'll attach your front license plate, as the new front receiver will almost certainly replace your license plate. There are 2" receiver hitch license plate holders that slide in, which might be a good solution. The rectangular thick reenforcing washers on the back side of the bumper mount had to be modified, so I deducted one star. To sit flush, one on each side needed to be corned with a cutting wheel. br>br>It took me about 2 hours to complete the installation, which is a relatively simple task if you are handy.

Draw tite, not Reese, is a good heavy-duty product
5/5

With the exception of the handle nuts and 1/4 inch thick washers that go on the back side of the receiver and frame brackets, this is a great heavy duty product that was easy to install. There isn't enough space for hands or tools to secure handle nuts or washers. My solution was to bend the handle nuts to fit and super glue the washer to the handle nuts, which worked perfectly. It took me an hour of fighting before I tried the super glue, and I was done in 10 minutes. I didn't see anyone else's experience with this in the reviews, so I thought I'd share my own.

For the price, this is an excellent product
5/5

On my 2000 F350, the installation was simple. The tow hook bolts were the most difficult to remove. Ford used red loctite, which made them difficult to remove. Other than that, installation was simple; the instructions called for drilling 5/8 inch mounting holes, but I chose to use a hole saw and drill 3/4 inch holes to give myself a little more wiggle room once the bumper was installed. All in all, it took about two hours. I haven't yet towed it, but it appears to be well-built. It's quite substantial, and I have no doubt that it can support the stated weight of 9000 pounds.

The receiver is excellent, but the shipping was poor, and there was no mounting hardware included
3/5

At different times, I ordered this receiver for two Ford trucks. Early in 2021, the first order arrived on time and with mounting hardware included. There were no scratches or flaws, and it was in excellent condition. It was relatively simple to install on a 1999 Ford F-250. On April 25th, I placed an order for my second receiver. It was delivered today, May 8th. I tracked it using the FedEx tracking number and discovered that it had been delayed due to the need for a new shipping label to be printed. Then it was given several delivery dates, all of which passed without being met. It was delivered today, but it wasn't supposed to arrive for another two days, according to tracking. I am extremely dissatisfied with the receiver's delivery. br>As for the receiver's quality, it's quite good and should suffice for my winch, which will only be used occasionally. There was no packaging or mounting hardware included with the receiver when it arrived. There are a few chips in the finish that shouldn't be there on a new product, but they'll be covered by the bumper, so it's not a major issue. br>There were no issues with mounting hardware. I needed to go to the hardware store to get four grade 8 bolts, washers, and nuts, as the first receiver came with nuts with a handle attached to make installation easier. It was nearly impossible to install the nuts without the handles, but I was able to squeeze my hand into the opening and get it to work on the passenger side. Because there wasn't enough room on the drivers side for my hand, I used a magnet on a flexible handle to feed the bolts through the backside of the receiver and place the nuts on the outside. It took several attempts to get the bolts through the hole with the magnet because they kept hitting something and falling off. br>This receiver was installed on a Ford F250 pickup truck in 2003. Both 4x4. br>I'd buy this receiver again because it's well-made and durable. The shipping, finish, and lack of mounting hardware have all disappointed me. br>Without the trip to the hardware store, it took about 2 hours to install.

The receiver hitch is very nice
5/5

This was purchased in order for me to be able to use my winch from the front of my truck. It's not difficult to put together, but it does take some time because getting the nuts behind the bumper started is difficult. Also, the factory had liberally applied red thread locker to the original bolts that held the tow hooks to my truck. When I tried to remove them with my impact gun and snapped the first one off, I discovered this the hard way. It took me just as long as the rest of the job to get the sheared off bolt out. Heat them up with a torch, and the bolts will come out easily. I ended up replacing all of them because I already had to buy a new bolt.

It's fairly simple to put together, but you'll have to drill holes in your original bumper
5/5

To begin with, this is a hefty piece of metal! With this receiver hitch, you're definitely putting some weight and strength up front. The directions were clear and concise. Although not perfect, I found the installation to be relatively simple and straightforward. To complete the installation, you'll need to drill four 5/8" to 3/4" holes in each side of your bumper where it mounts. So have drill bits and cutting fluid on hand. Also, getting all the nuts in, particularly the top drivers side, was a tight squeeze, but I was able to get them in after a few drops and cursing. Don't give up. I like the way it looks and plan to use it to store my removable winch on my 2000 Ford F350 7. 3 strokes of power.
