Questions & Answers
It's a hitch mount that attaches to the front of the vehicle. If your truck had two fronts, it would only work in the back.
I'm not sure, and it's far too cold to crawl beneath the truck and take measurements. Maybe you'll get lucky and find someone who has just received, but hasn't yet installed, the device you need to measure. Your question will remain visible as a result of this response.
A 2012, I assume, is identical to a 2010. My 2010 did not require the removal of the skid plate. Simply unscrew the bolt from the front of the truck's hooks and sandwich the hitch between the two. It was easy to set up and works perfectly. There'll be no more calculating whether or not I'll run anyone over behind me. Everything you do is visible to you.
The hitch will be attached to the bottom of the vehicle's frame, where the tow hooks are located, according to the manufacturer. As long as the brush guard isn't in this position, it'll work.

The hitch isn't bad in and of itself. Customer service at CURT, on the other hand, is a farce. Prepare to buy bolts for your hitch at the hardware store. Despite the fact that the description claims that "ALL NECESSARY HARDWARE IS INCLUDED FOR A COMPLETE INSTALLATION," mine did not include the hardware. Curt customer service refused to send new hardware and insisted that I use the old. They didn't reply to my emails for several weeks. I recommend using Uhaul to order your hitch. If you want to reinstall the tow hooks and hitch at the same time, keep in mind that the existing bolts will be 1/4 shorter. To compensate for the additional thickness, I recommend using bolts that are a quarter-inch longer than the factory bolts. I'm not sure how far the bolts extend into the frame, and I'm not willing to risk it. The bolts are M12 in size. 25-40mm in length Also, because the holes in the hitch are a little large, make sure to use an M12 flat washer or your bolts may be damaged.
Installing a front hitch on my 2018 Tundra TRD Pro took me just 20 minutes all by myself. I didn't want to change the bumper, and I wanted to be able to use a receiver hitch to move the winch from front to back. On my truck, I only needed to remove four 17 mm bolts that held the D rings in place before installing the new hitch. A floor jack comes in handy in a variety of situations, but none more so than when you're working on if you don't have anyone to assist you. For a cleaner look, I purchased the mounting plate from Amazon but did not attach the arms to it. NOTE: When you install this on a Tundra, you'll be 6-foot tall. 1/2" back from the bumper's front. On Amazon, I also purchased a 7" long by 2" rise extender, which worked flawlessly. It raised it by 2" after getting it out far enough. Curt's product is well-made and heavy-duty, and it should last the truck's lifetime. This book comes highly recommended.
According to the instructions, I removed the skid plate and sliced a 4x5" opening for future oil changes with a die grinder. When it came time to attach the hitch, it appeared that the lower bumper would not have enough clearance. The lower bumper, on the other hand, is attached to the skip plate and can be adjusted. The hitch fit like a glove after I tightened the bumpers on these attachments. This installation is a dream if you have a floor jack. Balance the hitch on the jack, slide it underneath, and jack it up to within a 1/16" of flush with the ground. You're ready to go once you've attached the tow hook and bolts on each side.
I'm on my second vehicle with a Curt Front Mount Receiver. The receiver, as with the first, is well-equipped. constructed and finished to perfection The directions were clear and easy to understand. My 2014 Toyota Tundra Double-cab had a quick installation. cab. I didn't give this five stars because of two factors. First, if your truck has a skid plate, you must either remove it or modify it so that you can change the oil filter without having to remove the skid plate, presumably because removing it once the receiver is mounted would be difficult, if not impossible. This is mentioned in the receiver instructions, and it also tells you where to cut. More than sheet metal is involved in the 4" round cut. Some of the support framing will need to be cut as well. I decided not to reinstall the skid plate for the time being because I don't plan on doing any hard core off-roading. roading. The distance at which the receiver is set is the second issue. in the direction of the front bumper I took a measurement of 6. The distance between the front of the license plate mount and the receiver's face is 5 inches. As a result, some hitch tubes may be too short to fit into the receiver properly. If this is a problem, hitch extenders can help.
On the front of my 2016 Tundra Limited 4x4 CrewMax, I just installed the Curt 31198 Receiver. I plan to mount a winch on the front of my truck using it and a Curt 31010 mounting plate. Rather than cutting a hole in the skid plate to access the oil filter (as recommended), I simply removed the skid plate and secured the bumper's plastic facade with a crude bracket made from a strip of aluminum (purchased from Lowe's). In any case, this receiver will most likely provide far more protection than that thin skid plate.
Drop the four bolts holding the tow eyes, raise the hitch on the floor jack, and re-install the hitch. Tow eyes should be installed using the four bolts that are already present. Before removing the tow eyes, I recommend spraying the bolts with penetrating oil. br>If a skid plate is used, a 4 to 6 inch hole must be drilled to allow for future oil changes without removing the hitch.
They genuinely care about their product, as evidenced by their actions. This receiver hitch was a perfect fit for my 2007 Toyota Tundra, and I highly recommend it.
It fits perfectly and installs quickly and easily with the help of a floor jack to support and align it. When adding the hitch, the stock bolts are too short if you have the TRD aluminum skid plate (1/4 inch thick). Longer bolts (bolts 1/2 inch longer worked fine) can be found at the hardware store. It took less than 30 minutes to complete the installation.
