It is being used for the same purpose in my 1987 C10, yes.
There shouldn't be any issues with it the person who's experiencing the issue probably installed it backwards. I installed it on a 4l60e without any problems and both the 4l60e and the th700r4 use the same housing.
I can use it with my 3 speed Saginaw. The car I own is a 1976 Chevrolet C10.
As long as the mounting positions are the same, it should work

He was pretty rusty when he showed up. In order to fit my long tube header exhaust on my 1985 C10, I had to get this part. As soon as I opened the package, I found that the package was pretty badly rusted. Spray paint and sandpaper are what I used to fix it. In my opinion, it should not have taken me so long to prepare and paint a brand new item, especially at this price. It fits very well or I would return The welds are good and the fitting is good. The next time I buy, I will.
As a result, my rebuild is moving forward as expected. In any case, I was not expecting to receive this part in such a dull gray and partially rusted state. Several remarks make it seem likely that at the very least it is primed since steel and "black" are mentioned in the description. This is not true, it was received in raw metal condition, which meant it was not sealed and could rust. With my part I spent a little bit of time grinding it on a wire wheel and then finished it by.
There is no powdercoat or paint on this model. A bare metal finish that has been sandblasted. As it had very little rust on it when I received it, I predict there will be a great deal of rust on it when it leaves. Clean it up, rattle can it, and polish it to a shiny black finish. Has a good range of adjustability and fits well.
If you want to coat it yourself, you will have to do so. Before I made a decision, I should have read the reviews. . . . Although the pictures show otherwise, I didn't expect it to be bare. I had plenty of paint, so I painted it anyway. I am using a 70 C10. This is fitting great. This transmission has 4l80e gears. If necessary, the parts can be fitted into the existing holes with some room to move forward and back. Given the price, it was worth painting it even though it cost more. I agree, as I mentioned earlier.
Out of the box, the tool is very rusty. There is an advertisement for painted walls. This had no paint on it at all. A minimum amount of spatter was produced during welding. There were some welding spatters to be removed, and it needed to be primed and painted Prepare the surface for use by painting. As a result of its proper fit for my 1986 C10 700R4, I rated it highly. There is a chance that it will not fit with the factory single exhaust, but I intend to install dual exhaust, so that is not an issue.
For a 700R transmission, the connecting tab was set too low. My solution to avoid hitting the transmission was to make a 3/8" shim and to buy longer bolts to prevent the tube from hitting it. There was also rust coming through the finish at the welds, which made the finish thin. Cleaning it up and repainting it was what I did. Although I would have sent it back, I had an appointment the next day to have my exhaust done and couldn't wait for the replacement to arrive.
Although there were some rust spots on it, it was in good condition. In spite of the fact that the box states 'made in China,' the steel and welds look excellent. I installed it on my C10 with a th350 and it allowed for the exhaust piping from long tube headers to fit perfectly. The purchase was a good one for me.
The kit is exactly what is described, very well built, and will be installed.
