For trailers with electric brakes, this is a good cable to use

After a total mechanical and electrical failure during our last outing, I needed to replace the entire brake system on our 2013 travel trailer, and I decided that since the OEM cabling needed to be replaced, I'd run two separate 12 ga. cables back to each axle from the front junction box to reduce voltage loss and provide redundancy if one cable connection fails. This cable was chosen because it was available in a variety of wire gauges, had a good length, and was reasonably priced. I finished the job and was pleasantly surprised by how well the cable was packaged and handled during the fitting and installation process. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the individual copper strands that make up the conductor in each wire appear to be thicker than desired (i. e. Given that it must be able to flex constantly where it is routed down from the trailer frame to the axle when the trailer is being towed, each wire in the cable is a little more rigid than I'd anticipated. I did make sure that each cable was wrapped in a wire loom and had a stress-free connection. free "curl" in this area so it could follow each axle as it moved up and down without binding or tightening, but as an electrical engineer with decades of system installation experience, I believe this cable would be better suited for its stated application if it were more flexible.

Extra security

This cable was used to connect the car's and trailer's electric brake systems. In addition, I ran the cable under the truck to provide voltage to the winch in the back. When exposed under the body, the cable's jacket offers additional protection.

There's nothing wrong with this product; it's 12 gauge, which gives the brakes plenty of power compared to competitors with lighter gauge brakes. It's of good quality, at a reasonable price, and it works perfectly for me!.
