Questions & Answers
If you're wondering how to turn on your rear lights, brake lights, or turn signals, this is the place to go. NO is the answer. It's just the braking system on the AFO towed vehicle. A light that indicates that the AFO is braking is included, and this LED strip is installed in a forward-facing location so that it can be seen by your motorhome's rear view camera - Its purpose is to check whether the AFO braking system is actuating when it should (when the coach is braking) and not when it shouldn't (when the coach is not braking).
Yes, this is the entire set for both the coach and the tow vehicle.
Everything you'll need to get started is included. We took ours to a shop that specialized in semi-automation. I'll admit that it was a full-day job for me.

On the motorhome and Jeep, I had to custom fabricate a good mount for the unit. It does exactly what it says it will, and I am very happy with it.
When braking the tow car, it does a fantastic jib. It's simple to connect once it's been installed. Excellent product.
There isn't a better product on the market.
This braking system is far superior to the one I had previously.
The air line in your RV needs to be protected. This was installed on a diesel pusher that was towing a 2020 Equinox. The RoadMaster Brakemaster setup was used on our previous coach with hydraulic brakes. Despite the fact that the AFO system is very effective, there are two minor flaws. One issue is that the air line between the MH and the towed car is made of a quick-release material. A connector that looks like an air compressor fitting but is much smaller. There is no plastic sleeve on the hose around these connectors to keep sand and road debris out of the quick connects while driving. I had trouble getting all of the gunk out of the connector before I could release it (had to get some water and hose it down first). After that, I'm not sure if any sand is still getting into the hose and MH/car fittings, which would most likely cause problems. br>The second issue is the braking indicator lamp attached to the rearview mirror. It's a red LED that doesn't show up well through the backup camera on the coach. The camera's LEDs appear to be overloaded, and instead of displaying a red light, it appears blacker than everything else on the screen. This, combined with the small size of the light on the screen, makes it impossible to tell whether the car brake pedal is depressed while driving quickly or easily. The air hoses on the Roadmaster system did have a sleeve at the ends. For 14 years, I'd connect the hose and then slide the protective sleeve over the connections, which kept the vast majority of the dirt out. br>Photos of the AFO hose without a protector and the Roadmaster hose with a protector are included.
