Questions & Answers

This kit is about to be installed Could anyone please provide a long term result report so I can save my 2001 Regal with 160,000 miles from breaking down after the winter?

The Grand Prix Forums' success stories are many and varied. It relies on what is wrong, but for $40, anyone should give it a shot. There have been a few long term installations with the shift kit. One guy had the kit in for over 30k, and he surely reported issues beforehand. Some people recommend installing a transmission cooler along with the shift kit (both are quite easy to install) On this page, I also think I found a Hayden 403 cooler. Definitely worth it to buy a transmission cooler and a shift kit!

Do you have a 2004 Buick lasber?

This will work if you have the 4T65E transmission in your car. Your VIN should be able to tell you what transmission your car has when you do a Google search on it.

Earlier this year, I rebuilt the transmission on my 2002 montero limited. It's P0741 that's causing the light to come on. Do you think this will work for me?

This kit is awesome! It was the lazy shifts that were bothering me
5/5

This kit is awesome! Due to the max adapt code's long shift time, I was having issues with lazily operated shifts, followed by constant hard shifts after only 5 minutes of driving. I decided to give it a try based on all the reviews. Parts of the 1 were the only ones used A pair of 2s and 2s This accumulator piston has 3 Man, there is no more jerking in this car. With this transmission, I easily shift my 2004 Grand Prix GT with 240k. It now shifts like it just bought. I recommend this book highly! In addition, I recommend that you also replace your old oil A set of rings for each member of the team A pair of 2s and 2s Because you are already in there changing the springs, you might as well replace 3 accumulator pistons. Two of my favorite things A third accumulator piston is on the way Having replaced the ring, I'm glad that it had a rip in Having the maximum adapt installed in the kit prevented me from having the hard shifts anymore. Thanks again to transgo for making such a great kit. A brief update It's been 4,000 miles since this kit was put in and the transmission is still running fine! As a result of using this kit, I have not experienced any bang shifts or problems with max adapt. My 4,000 miles have been mostly highway, with a few city cruising and rush hour traffic experiences. There have been no problems shifting in any scenario. The transmission still runs great after putting the shift kit in. I now have 50k on this car since I put the shift kit in. My car is now almost at 300k and the shifting is awesome since installing the transmission kit. It's a great kit from Transgo and I highly recommend it!.

You can get rid of that delay and make your shifts crisper
5/5

The one I installed is the only one A 2 and a 2 We swapped 3 accumulator springs with the trans, and the shifts are much more stable, even on a car with 250K miles that was experiencing a delay in engagement off of a stop sign. If you search the web, you can find a write up with images that explains how to install it. Please make sure that the 1- is put in correctly A 2 and a 2 Those 3 cylinders have to be put together and back into the corresponding bores, and then you scotch brite the bores to get rid of any glaze and to clean everything up and this will only take you about an hour. Having 6 quarts of fluid to top off hot using high mileage valvoline synthetic fluid was enough for me. I bought the sonac clamp to keep the differential lube tube in place, which was a known issue on these rides, since the tube can slip off and then you lose the lube to the differential and the For $8, I found that item shipped from rock.

If the shift adapters need to be reset, do so
5/5

The car I bought was a 2006 Pontiac Montana at a good price from a used car lot. The trans began to slip on the way home after I paid cash. All we did was use half of the kit and try to prevent the pan from falling. After installing this kit, you will need to hook it up to a matrix/Snap-On scanner and reset your shift adapters. A shift adapter is stored in the ecm and reveals when the trans should shift and how much pressure the solenoids should receive based on previous shifting data. This vehicle would have needed a new transaxle if it had been serviced by anyone else. It has been 6 months since the trans was purchased, and so far, no problems have occurred.

The installation process is easy
5/5

This is a fairly simple product to install if you already dropped your transmission pan or plan to do so. (Photo of springs is stock not the ones in the kit, the springs included in the kit are much firmer for better shifting). As I was changing my fluid and filter, I decided to install this kit and it was simple to do with all the information on the internet and YouTube*.

The Transgo Shift Kit does not have any shift problems
5/5

As the transmission on my 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra was shuddering while shifting, I purchased this item. The car went into a transmission shop from a partial repair to a complete rebuild $350 - $400 There was no way to determine the source of the problem, so they charged $1800. In the end, after I did some research and found this kit, I decided to try it out. Once the parts of the kit were installed by removing the trans pan alone, the problem was cured. To complete this part of the kit took me only about an hour and a half. Rather than doing the rest of the kit, I will do the other part of the transmission. I am having the delayed cold shift until the transmission warms up, which will take a bit more time. Those parts and seals are also included in this kit. I saved a bunch of money with this tip!.

This kit is awesome
5/5

This module has been installed in a Bonneville 3. 5 with a 3. 46 engine. With the hot transmission, my hard shifts were due to the 6 cylinder engine. Dropping the pan and unbolting the four bolts to reach the valve housing was my method of access. Within an hour, I was done and the instructions were spot on. As long as it took to drain the pan, the actual work took longer. Without even the slightest hard shift, I have driven over 500 miles. You can't tell that it is older than it is. recommend this kit to anyone who has a GM transmission that is hard to shift.

Detailed installation instructions for the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix
4/5

Earlier this year, I installed an emulsion in my 4t65e transmission in hopes of extending the transmission's life. After I installed it, there was absolutely no issue with it (so I wasn't trying to fix it), but I was reading it may serve as a good preventative measure. The remaining small parts in the accumulator were unused. I only replaced the shims and springs in the accumulator. To swap the parts from the kit were relatively straightforward. You just need to start out in an organized way and pay attention to what you are taking off and replacing in each section In normal cruising, reducing shift times is normal. I noticed this immediately after installation. Secondly, when you really nail it, the shifts aren't so laggy and hard - it's as if you're using a robot. They are small blips from one gear to the next. You will be able to tell the difference when you step on the accelerator when you are cruising along Before the shift kit it took a long time for the transmission to figure out what it needed and then there was a big delay before it found the lower gear it wished for, now with it the shift kit is already on by the time you realize it's time to downshift. To my mind, this is pretty sweet! It is hard to say when my expectations will be met since I purchased this as a preventative maintenance item, not as a performance item, but so far I am satisfied with its performance. It gets 4 stars only since I have only had the kit for a few weeks and I am unsure as to how they will fare in the long run (although I have heard the kits are excellent in the long run). It's still an excellent kit, and I recommend it highly. I wish you all the best!.
