Questions & Answers

What is the length of the hose included in the kit?

Three feet was the length of the hose.

Is this made of stainless steel or something else?

completely made of aluminum metal

Is this an add-on or does it take the place of the original?

This can be used as a supplement to your existing cooler, which is often built into your radiator, or as a stand-alone cooler if you don't have one. br>I own a 2006 Nissan Xterra, which, like a number of other Nissan models, is prone to radiator failure. When it fails, radiator coolant contaminates the transmission, causing it to fail catastrophically. I plan to bypass and cap the stock cooler where the lines come from the bottom of the radiator and use 100% of the transmission cooling with 100% of this unit. This is a small price to pay to avoid cross-contamination and an expensive tranny replacement.

Is it possible to use this as a CVT add-on?

This is what I installed on my CVT Jeep Patriot.

The greatest value for your money! Works well
5/5

Great cooler for the transmission. I've had it on for a few days and decided to check the fluid temperature difference on my own. After a good 30 minute drive, the trans fluid used to be hot, but now it's only lukewarm. This is what I have on my Nissan Sentra 1 from 2003. Automatically, the number eight appears. Everything worked perfectly out of the box. Clamps are useful but difficult to tighten, but I can't complain about the piece. Also, if you bend a fin, don't worry about it; simply use a straight screwdriver to bend it back as close to its original shape as possible; it won't hurt it.

For trucks, this is an absolute must
4/5

It was a breeze to set up. I haven't driven around yet to check the temperature of the transmission, but the cooler appears to be in good working order. Before I installed it on my 2007 GMC Yukon 5, there were no leaks. 3 The temperature in the city was around 180°F, and in the mountains, it was in the 200°F range. I'll be happy if it stays around 180 degrees while driving through the mountains. I didn't want to use the zip thingies that came with it because I didn't want to take off parts I didn't want to put back on, so don't judge me. Zips are mounted and secure! br>*updatebr>The trans temperature has been consistently 35 degrees cooler during normal driving. When I got to the mountains, the highest temperature I got was 175 degrees, which was quite impressive considering it was close to the normal temperature before I added the cooler. What makes you give it only four stars? , because I needed to purchase an additional adapter (Hayden 397) and the hose was insufficient.

For the price, it's impossible to beat! On a 2004 Grand Cherokee with the 4 cylinder engine, the installation took about 30 minutes

7 non- The 545rfe trans and HO Instead of the included worm gear clamps, I used fuel clamps because they provide a more secure grip without cutting the hose if overtightened. I also used a 6AN fiberglass braided poly line, primarily for aesthetic reasons. You can still buy with confidence and use the kit's supplies because I've included my upgrades. Over the years, I've successfully installed several Hayden coolers using only the tools provided in the kit. br>br>Tip: br>br> If your vehicle has a factory tow package, a cooler is almost certainly already installed in the radiator. Assuming there isn't a leak, it's still a good idea to use the factory cooler alongside the aux Hayden cooler to avoid overheating. Many trannys are made to operate at a specific temperature - Overheating, particularly in the winter, can prevent your transmission from shifting into overdrive, lowering your MPG. From the translation: Return to the trans after going to the factory cooler, then the aux cooler. Also, if the inlets and outlets are mounted horizontally, make sure the lower connection is used as the inlet. This ensures that the cooler is completely filled without the presence of air. You can create a "waterfall" effect by using the top as the inlet, which will fill the cooler capacity with air and reduce its efficiency. You can also install vertically, but be sure to put the in/oulets on top to avoid a similar effect.

Give your old automatic transmission a new lease on life
5/5

This product is a must for any vehicle that tows a heavy load, but it can also be a lifesaver for any automatic transmission whose life you want to extend by regulating its operating temperatures. Just before a family vacation from Phoenix to the Colorado Rockies, I installed this product on my Honda Pilot with over 320K miles, and it shifted like a dream. This is an excellent product.

Altima 16' S 2 is the best vehicle for it
5/5

This transmission cooler was installed on my 2016 Nissan Altima S 2 two months after it was originally installed. Because this Altima didn't have one before, I tried the Hayden 677 cooler first, and it worked well. This 403 worked even better with the 677 because I needed more cooling! Driving is as smooth as it gets, with no more stop light vibrations. br> The fins bend easily, but can be fixed, and it feels flimsy but works fine; the highest temperature it reaches with both is around 178F°. It would reach 203°, but at a slower rate than before. (Temps monitored with CVTz50 App and bluetooth OBD2) Definitely aids in the life extension of these delicate CVTs.

However, those hoses would be difficult to slide on
5/5

So far, everything has gone well. It used an unusual transmission gates hose diameter of 11/32" and wasn't long enough for both legs of my 14' Nissan Rogue Select. I had to go to the auto parts store by the time I figured it out, and they only had 5/16" diameter, which is only 1/32" different and should work. Well, getting the 11/32" hose was difficult enough, what with having to grease the barb attachment with motor oil and using a heat gun to soften the hose (it was 60 degrees outside, but not below freezing). I bent some of the aluminum fins on the cooler when I switched to the 5/16" hose because I was desperate to get my vehicle back into service because it was my only mode of transportation. The fins aren't particularly brittle, so I was able to straighten them out. ish, using a small flathead screwdriver to bend each fin individually. If you think you'll need more than the 4', you should definitely get the 11/32" gates hose.

High Flow Cooling at its Finest! It's a fantastic product that significantly reduced trans temperatures
5/5

I recommend putting it in a high-flow area with plenty of wind. Like behind the grille, but connected to the radiator/AC Evaporator, and don't be put off by the plastic mounting thingies. You're not going to damage the radiator in any way. Simply push it through from the bottom, near the radiator, until you can pull it from the other side; if you don't, it will break in the middle. It came with enough hose for my car, but you might need more if you're mounting it on a truck or in a more remote location. However, everything has gone well so far! It's been connected for a month. My trans runs smoother and cooler than it did with the OE Style row cooler, which was more restrictive. This device appears to be ideal for engine oil. Because of the high flow, the power steering fluid also needs to be cooled.

It's quite effective
5/5

On my 1993 F-150, I had it installed. 150 4. 9L/ E4OD works perfectly, and it gives me more confidence in keeping the transmission fluid cool. As long as you install it where it will get plenty of air flow from either the fan or the air being pushed through as you drive down the road, everything should be fine.
