After having some issues working on a 2006 Hummer H3, I needed the correct tools to remove the 36mm nut that secures the electric clutch fan to the water pump shaft

I had originally rented a Toolkit from a local auto shop, but it was so worn out that I would have ended up stripping something. So, after a lengthy Amazon search for a suitable toolkit - This one had Prime shipping, which I took advantage of. Gearwrench has a solid reputation in the tool industry, and this kit is no exception. br>br>It includes every metric size you'll need for any modern vehicle, all of which are labeled in the blow-up diagram. container that has been molded The tools click into place neatly and securely, and they don't rattle around. The pulley holder is extremely simple to construct; simply hook the hooks onto the bolt heads and loosen the nut with the appropriate size wrench. The wrenches also have a half-inch drive hole on the back so you can use a torque wrench to get the final torque specs. All of the tools are solid, heavy, and perfectly milled. The tools were even packaged with tiny dots of oil that were placed where the tools touched to prevent them from rusting. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and this is one of those toolkits that will most likely last a lifetime.

For 5, it does not work

Cummins 9 cylinder engine Not suitable for a group of five people. Cummins 9 cylinder engine When you try to remove two bolts and use the pins to hold the pulley, the pulley holder is rendered useless. br>br>There isn't enough room between the clutch nut and the bolts on the fan pulley for me to use the wrench and the fan pulley holder at the same time. br>br>As a result of my attempt, my phone's screen cracked. I essentially paid for a gilded wrench set.

With a nice blow mold case, this is a solid set of tools that actually works
5/5

We'd all purchased something with certain expectations, but let's be honest: how many times have we been duped? br>br>I had a problem with the fan clutch on my Hemi engine, and I couldn't get it off the water pump pulley. br>br>I tried a half-dozen different tips and tricks to loosen the clutch, but none of them worked. br>br>I bought this tool in the hopes of removing the fan clutch, but it took me 3 minutes to do so. br>br>This tool works by using a scissor-like tool with pins that go into the holes on the water pump pulley to hold it steady. br>br>Of course, make sure your water pump pulley has at least two holes for the pulley holder pins to go through. br>br>If you're having trouble loosening the clutch, forget about renting tools from an auto parts store; this is the last tool set you'll need. br>br>With the pulley holder, I discovered that you can piece meal this tool set and get only the size you need.

Fan Clutch Tool is a tool that is used to keep a fan clutch in place For planned expedition work, I bought this fan clutch kit
5/5

Similar tool sets have been borrowed from the local auto parts store in the past. The purchase was satisfactory to me. The kit is packaged in a hinged-cover storage box made of hard plastic. The tool is fairly intuitive to use, despite the lack of instructions. You simply unscrew two of the fan pulley's bolts and replace them with the appropriate "pins" that go into the "scissor" tool. This enables you to keep the fan in place while loosening the fan clutch nut with the proper wrench. My trips to the auto parts store are no longer necessary because of this tool. This was a good buy.

This is an excellent tool! I was skeptical at first, but I was in desperate need of this tool, and my other Gear Wrench tools had held up admirably
5/5

As my mechanical ability and some of the projects I've been working on have improved and increased, I've become more critical of cheap tools. Craftsman is no longer on my radar, which is unfortunate because it was my grandfather and father's favorite style. Along with Cornwell and Mac, I've been branding for a long time. Today, Amazon delivered this tool to my porch at precisely the right time, and it worked flawlessly and exceeded my expectations. Unless you're a professional mechanic, I don't think you'll use it very often, but it's nice to have something like this in the garage when you need it, especially at this price.

Gear Wrench produces high-quality tools at a reasonable price
4/5

To loosen fan clutches, I usually used an air chisel, but this set works just as well and leaves no marks on the hub nut. It's just as quick to use as the air chisel after you've used it on a few different vehicles and gotten used to it. Here are my two gripes: The spreader bar is a stout piece of equipment. I've tried rubbing it with oil and working it, but it's still a little stiff. 2nd: You'll have to work hard to keep everything in the box. In the storage container, replacing the spreader bar and some of the wrenches is once again difficult. Without the box, the tools take up less space, so that was my solution. br>Overall, this set accomplishes its purpose, fits well, and is relatively simple to operate.

It works
5/5

I recently had to replace the water pump in my 2002 Chevy Suburban. I tried for about three hours to remove the fan from the water pump but was unsuccessful. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on how to get rid of it, but it wouldn't go away. This tool was discovered after a search on the internet. It took me about a week to get it, but once I did, it was only a matter of seconds to take it away. It was well worth the money. After replacing the water pump, I used it to tighten it once more. Sometimes all you need to do is obtain the necessary tool.

On my Chevy truck, it worked fine
5/5

On my Avalanche 5 from 2002, it worked perfectly. 3L. If you come across a clutch that has been overtightened and corroded, use the scissors tool to hold the pulley. It has interchangeable pins, is strong, and has leverage. There are numerous pins and wrenches of various sizes to cover a wide range of models. Because the scissors tool takes up so much space over the nut, the wrenches must be very thin. The wrenches are capable of completing the task. br>br> When installing your new fan clutch, make sure to use plenty of anti-static tape. Grasp the threads and do not overtighten them. It is kept on by the rotation of the fan against the threads. To tighten it, you don't need to use all of the tool's leverage; just a snug fit will suffice. Remember this the next time you take it off, and you'll have an easier time.
