Questions & Answers

Is it difficult to squeeze the clutch lever now that it's been converted?

On the cable, there is a noticeable increase in pressure/resistance, but nothing that is particularly significant. br>In comparison to the original components, the clutch has been improved. There was no slipping during rigorous testing. Now I'm riding a completely different bike.

I purchased clutch replacement parts separately rather than as part of a kit. Is it still necessary for me to purchase the single clutch spring?

I purchased the plates, spring kit, and gasket all at the same time; however, I'm not sure if you can purchase just one spring. You may need to contact Barnett if you did not receive all of the parts, or if you only need one part, as the one I ordered had them all.

Is buying a stock clutch assembly and modifying it with a Barnett clutch spring conversion kit the best option?

I'm not sure, but I believe you're squandering money here. The clutches on my Yamaha royal star venture have only 68,000 miles on them and show very little wear. After switching to a different brand of oil, I experienced clutch slippage and decided to inspect it. I discovered the lack of wear after finding the speck for clutch thickness. My clutch system relies on a spring washer for clutch pressure, and the heat has worn out the spring washer over time, causing it to lose its strength. I only bought the Barnett clutch kit, but the difference was amazing! Barnett Clutches comes highly recommended by me!

Is this compatible with a Yamaha XJR 1300 model from 1999?

It was well worth the money
5/5

On my 2003 Road Star, it was a complete game changer. Clutch slip is common on the road star and v star motorcycles when accelerating hard. This is because they use a diaphragm spring design. I used new OEM Yamaha friction and steel plates in conjunction with the Barnett clutch plate. Mine had 53k miles on them and were still in good condition, but I figured I'd change them while the primary was open. The majority of people find that the plates are adequate and that the Barnett is all that is required. The Barnett replaces the diaphragm spring with a six-spring plate, resulting in more consistent pressure. This installation will necessitate the purchase of a new gasket for your primary cover. For less than $120, I bought a kit from another distributor that included OEM frictions, steels, and a gasket. br>br>The bearing inside this clutch plate was upgraded by Barnett, and the plate I received had the new bearing design. br>br>It was very simple to install. You risk cracking the clutch hub if you don't torque the 6 bolts according to your bike's instructions. With the Barnett, the responsiveness is much better, but keep in mind that the clutch feels completely different. This plate engages the clutch much faster and firmer, resulting in a shorter clutch travel. br>br>Overall, I believe this is a must-have for any serious rider. Now that the torque is being transferred to the rear wheel, the bike appears to have a lot more torque!.

It was ineffective- The teeth were wrongly machined
3/5

I received a defective part from a batch of incorrectly machined parts that had previously been identified as defective. The teeth were essentially machined slightly thicker than required, rendering the part non-functional (the (hub) would not engage into the clutch housing). So, after ensuring that everything on my end was in working order, I started the bike and put it into gear. When I let go of the clutch, my bike remained stationary in gear. I even went through the process of rewriting I wasted hours thinking I did something wrong, taking it all apart and putting it back together, only to discover it was just a bad part; I wasted hours thinking I did something wrong, taking it all apart and putting it back together. WHEN YOU INSTALL YOUR PART, MAKE SURE IT ENGAGES FULLY AND EASILY IN THE CLUTCH HOUSING, JUST AS THE OEM PART DID. WITH YOUR CLUTCH DISCS, THERE SHOULD BE NO PLAY. A few links will appear if you search for "badly manufactured Barnett's Clutch. " I've had a few other friends use Barnett's products and they've never had any problems, just a bad batch of parts that happens from time to time during the manufacturing process. I didn't contact Barnett directly; instead, I used Amazon to return.

Great product
5/5

One of the best modifications I've ever made to my bike. VERY high quality product, professionally packaged, with all parts included. Instructions are included in the package. br>The machine work appears to be of high quality, and the bearings appear to be very smooth and greased. I'm even more impressed with the product now that I've put a few hundred miles on it: the clutch lever pull is stiffer, as one would expect with a stronger spring setup; However, after a few hours, I am no longer aware of the change. The grab point (or friction zone) is smaller than it was previously, but not significantly so. It did exactly what it was supposed to do once the clutch was fully engaged: it was positive and slip-free. One of the most beneficial modifications I've made to my bike. br>Update: I've put over 2K miles on the new Barnett spring kit as of 5/8/18. Having never ridden a "new Roadstar," I can only say that it outperforms my expectations; I still believe it was the best money I've ever spent, and it's been the simplest upgrade to my bike so far. br>I have no reservations in recommending this product.

Yamaha Royal Star XVZ13 - 1996 It was a perfect match
5/5

A fantastic product! It's the perfect fit for my Yamaha Royal Star XVZ13, which I bought in 1996. If it wobbles a little before the bolts go in, you've got it in the right place. You're up against the boss teeth if it fits flat and doesn't wobble without the bolts. Rotate one bolt hole. Before you put the cover on, make sure the clutch is moving. Make certain that you're using Motorcycle Oil! I had no idea there was a distinction between car and motorcycle oil. A special oil is required for your wet clutch; otherwise, it will slip over time. The Barnett clutch plate was installed with the new clutch pack. I couldn't get this to slip at any speed, no matter how hard I tried. I was concerned that the clutch would be extremely stiff. The Barnett spring, on the other hand, felt very much like stock. I'd tell a friend about it. br>The most recent update was in May of this year. I've been riding with it for a while now and I'm still very happy with it. Even after 80K miles, my old clutch plates were in good condition. If I hadn't used the automotive engine oil, I believe I could have just used this spring. You could try washing and drying your friction clutches with break-in conditioner. re-clean and then re-clean Use this updated Clutch Spring to lube with the proper oil. In any case, I can now start my bike by rolling it over. I had previously been unable to do so. In addition, if I downshift too quickly, the bike lets out a small "Chirp!" ", says the driver, as the back tire grips the road. It's possible that the clutch handle is a little stiffer, but it's not a big deal. This clutch spring is still one of my favorites!.
