As much as I hate to admit it, drilling through the truck bed and into the truck frame somewhat intimidated me. By purchasing some cutting fluid, I was able to make the job As they made an initial hole, the smaller drill bits were more difficult to drill than the large ones. Drilling with the larger bit was much easier due to the fact that it enlarged the smaller one. While getting the torque right was not exactly easy, I am confident that it was done in the proper manner.
I found the right measurements and was able to install the awning quickly and easily. You will need to buy a good 17/64 drill bit for the truck you have. You will also need a manual with the make and model. It is not provided by them. There are also no options at Lowe's or Home Depot. As well as the torch wrench, you will need a socket wrench. The DIY'ers are in for a lot of fun.
When I did it, it took me around four hours. It took about 5 hours to complete this project, not counting the time tracking down drill bits and torch wrenches.
