My memory does not recall that. The button seems to be the culprit.
There is no ink. It is just stamped.

I also installed it on a 2005 Chevy Corvette. In the event that the original panel failed, I replaced it with a Malibu LT, and it works great. I was able to get by without removing the whole door panel, just pulling the bottom out when the torx screws were removed. As a result, I ended up lying on my back on the ground, trying to release the old switch with my hands while holding a flashlight so I could see what I was doing at the same time. It was still a 20-minute job, but I was happy with the results. This is the replacement I recommend, it's at a fair.
The fit on my 2007 Malibu is perfect.
It was good.
Luckily, it worked for my car - the factory installed button was so broken that I finally had to break it from pressing it so hard. Now, I can look at all the crap in the trunk without feeling I didn't realize how messed up it was until I got there.
It seems that the ignition key on this vehicle did not open the trunk. There is only one way in or out with the key fob or by pressing this trunk release button. Once the original button had to be pushed three or four times before making contact, it was time to replace it. I bought this switch to replace the damaged one on my 2005 LS (not the classic). You may continue*.
I love how well it fits and what a good job it does.
It is a great product.
I find it to be very useful.
