I purchased this item on Amazon and was looking forward to not having to go under the hood again because this would fix the problem. I've spent the better part of the day trying to figure out what's wrong with my electrical, but it all boils down to this. IT JUST WON'T PULL IN BY ITSELF! Wow, that's a pain in the neck. It receives power, but it won't magnetize until you physically lift the lever, after which it will stay in place. I NEED IT TO PULL UP AND HOLD ON BY ITSELF. IT. DOES. NOT. I'd appreciate it if you could send me a working one. how to verify - When you connect 12 volts to red and black to negative, the tension rod should be pulled in. *****UPDATE*******
br>br>As I have now resolved the issue at hand, I can confidently state that this piece is not- NOT THE PROBLEM, I repeat! br>IT ACTUALLY WORKS WONDERFULLY! I discovered that a false positive was being generated by the white wire, which connects to the largest relay, which is 80A 14v and has two large blades and two small blades on a junction near the fuel solenoid. Now I've replaced that, and everything is working fine. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS *****.

This is a complete waste of money- It's not going to work in this case

When I finally found time to install the new one in our truck, it only lasted a week before I had to manually push the shut off solenoid up every time I wanted to start it. It was too late to return the part at that point, so don't waste your money on it. It's only going to last a few days!.
