)'s reverse lights were out. For more than two years, I've been using a 4L manual transmission. I knew it was the switch, but I didn't bother to replace it until now, which I realize is poor ownership. br>br>At a fraction of the cost of an OEM replacement, this generic part did the job just as well, and it was installed in less than 20 minutes. br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: br>The reverse/backup switch is under the battery tray on the driver's side of the transmission. 1. The airbox/intake pipe. br>br> ) Disconnect the battery (10mm socket) and remove it. br>br>2. ) Remove the airbox tabs, disconnect the PCV hose from the valve cover, and disconnect the intake pipe from the throttle body via the hose clamp (10mm socket)br>br>3) Remove the battery tray (12mm socket)br>br>4) Remove the old switch and replace it. (You'll need a 24mm wrench; a socket will only work if it's very deep. ) The old switch's seized threads had to be popped with a rubber mallet as well. ).
When using a 24mm deep socket to tighten it up, the plastic part easily cracks. After that, there's no stopping the transmission fluid from leaking.
